HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and are as excited about 2018 as we are. We have so much in store this year, starting with the upcoming RLDCs that we encourage you to attend. We're also working on new programs to offer our members - see our MentorSHPE kick-off news below. And you may have noticed that we're sprucing up our branding to be more modern and to better reflect our mission. Be sure to follow us on social media to stay in-the-know about all things SHPE!

Viable candidates and members wanting to nominate and/or vote must be members in good standing as of February 15th . Student chapters wanting to vote need at least 10 members in good standing as of February 15th .

Graduating seniors wanting to be considered a graduate or professional member for election purposes should complete the   affi davit form   and mail it to SHPE National by February 15th .

Nominations due March 31st .
In recognition of National Mentoring Month, SHPE is proud to announce the kickoff of MentorSHPE!
SHPE’s current mentorship program has evolved into MentorSHPE, our new enhanced and comprehensive mentoring program that formalizes the strong mentorship relationships that already thrive within SHPE and those that are soon to form. We are  Building a Stronger Familia  one mentee at a time. Pursue your dreams with the help of your SHPE familia by connecting  with a mentor or serving as a mentor today!

Do you think your SHPE mentoring experience is the best this organization has seen? Through the  My MentorSHPE Story  contest, SHPE will highlight outstanding mentors and mentees across the country!

By completing the questionnaire, you automatically enter to win an opportunity to be highlighted on the SHPE National social media channels and website.

Hispanic Network Magazine reported: " 67 students from Puerto Rico, Texas And Florida receive sponsorships totaling $85,000. In the wake of the recent hurricane devastation, SHPE spearheaded a rallying call to their network and raised sponsorships of over $85,000 to travel 67 students impacted by the recent disasters to attend the 2017 SHPE National Conference last month..." On December 8, the Los Angeles City Council honored SHPE Founding Father and National Board Member Rodrigo T. Garcia with a formal resolution that states "be it resolved by the Los Angeles City Council and on behalf of the residents of the City and the employees of the City that RODRIGO 'ROD' T. GARCIA be recognized for his indelible and transcendent contributions toward the advancement of Hispanics engineers in the United States of America."

Rod was also honored that week by the Bureau of Sanitation, the Board of Public Works, and he received the Founders Legacy Award from the SHPE Los Angeles Chapter.

"I accepted the awards on behalf of all of us," said Rod. "Over the years I have been recognized several times and I appreciate the recognition but more important the biggest reward is seeing SHPE prosper and continuing on its mission. Thank you all and let's keep pushing forward."
