Under the theme of “Agents of Change,” RLDC 2 took place in Irvine, CA on February 14-16. One highlight was keynote speaker Will Davis who said, “As you go back to your chapters, embrace the opportunity [SHPE] affords you to gain experience, connect with others, and discover your calling in life.”
And under the theme of “Shaping Cornerstones,” RLDC 4 took place in Washington, DC on February 28-March 3.

If yes, we encourage you to become a candidate in the upcoming election for one of the open nationally-recognized volunteer positions! Nominations are due March 31.
Every quarter we will share highlights from each region, as reported to us in the Quarterly Regional Reporting (QRR) meetings.
Region 1: Bomba Blasts
Every year, Region 1 holds Bomba Blasts, a resume review and mock interview workshop. Students have the opportunity to get 1-1 coaching from professionals and participate in individual and panel interviews in preparation for SHPE Convention. There were 130 students and 88 professionals in attendance at the Blasts hosted by Fresno, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Puget Sound Professional Chapters, as well as, UC Merced and Fresno State.
Region 2: Holiday Posada
The SHPE San Diego Professional Chapter finished the year with a phenomenal 108-person turnout to the Holiday Posada. The event gave members a chance to partake in a silent auction composed of over $2700 in community donations. Most SHPE Jr. members in attendance at the Posada received Arduino Starter kits, donated by the SD eBoard, and a local charity was gifted with over $400 in toys from our member Toy Drive.
Region 3 - Community Day
In addition to multiple Noche de Ciencias and Salsa Night events in Q4, Region 3 held a Community Day event. On November 10, the Treasure Valley Chapter had 11 volunteers show up to give back to the community during a Rake-Up Boise event in the city.
Region 6 - Razonemos Juntos: Math Tutoring
On October 26 in Indianapolis, Dr. Rene Valverde-Ventura and Dr. Carmen Paniagua guided K-12 students during face-to-face tutoring sessions. The goal of this program is to advance academic performance by improving work habits and study skills so students may achieve their highest potential. The event was supported by Eduardo Martinez (Cummins), as well as, Alicia Flores, Isabel Franco, and Gustavo Ramirez.
Region 7 - BBQ with Industry
On September 26, Region 7 held a networking BBQ where members were able to interact with recruiters from 21 companies in a casual setting. Over 250 students and 100 recruiters attended the event hosted by the University of Florida Chapter.
