On September 27
th, members of OYUnited joined other national leaders for a day on Capitol Hill, focused on the Reconnecting Youth Campaign. The group spent the first half of the day in working groups, sharing ideas and brainstorming ways to collaborate. Later that afternoon, they spent their time meeting with members of Congress about the importance of investing in pathways for opportunity youth.
The
Reconnecting Youth Campaign is a national campaign calling on Congress to invest in America's future by funding 1 million bridges to meaningful education, training, service and employment opportunities each year for 16- to 24-year-olds who are not in school or work. The coalition is made up of various organizations and leaders across sectors, including, America's Promise Alliance, Aspen Forum for Community Solutions, Center for Law and Social Policy, City Year, Forum for Youth Investment, FSG, Georgetown University, Institute for Educational Leadership, International Youth Foundation, Jobs for the Future, National Youth Employment Coalition, New Profit, Opportunity Nation, Opportunity Youth United, PolicyLink, Public Allies,
