Bee Cave Brief: April 2026

This month we're reminding residents about how to protect their oak trees. 🌳

Oak wilt is a deadly tree disease that spreads more commonly between February and June.

That's why pruning oak trees is prohibited in Bee Cave during this time.

Oak Wilt

This map shows oak wilt cases in Travis County, documented by the Texas A&M Forest Service. As you can see, it's widespread in the Hill Country.

You can protect your oak trees by not pruning February through June. If your oak tree has any cuts, immediately paint over the wounds using a pruning seal. If you're concerned about your oak trees, go to TexasOakWilt.org to connect with a local forester.

Tree Trimming Regulations

The City recently clarified its ordinance so that residents do not have to get a permit in order to trim their own trees. Businesses do still need to get a permit before they can trim trees. And that's because they go from property to property.

Pruning oak trees between February and June is prohibited for everyone, and it carries a $500 fine per violation.

"Earth Day, Every Day" Campaign

The city is hosting an Earth Day, Every Day campaign on social media. Email photos of Earth friendly activities to communications@beecavetexas.gov for a chance to be featured on city socials.

Together, we can keep Bee Cave beautiful!

Thoroughfare Plan

City Council recently approved changes to the Thoroughfare Plan. This is the document that guides future road construction in the city.

The changes include a final alignment for the Southwest Collector Road that connects to Hamilton Pool Road and avoids a floodplain.

As development progresses, the new local roads will be designed and engineered to determine cost and funding sources.
