August snapshot for the Louisville region

Change since August of last year

The preliminary August data for the Louisville region paints a positive picture of the local economy. The size of the labor force continues to remain strong, and employment levels are well above their pre-pandemic levels. Although there are slightly fewer online job postings than the same time last year, demand for workers remains high.

The preliminary data also shows that the total number of jobs on the region's payrolls have recovered to their pre-pandemic levels. 30 months after the COVID recession began, and the region has recovered all of the jobs lost in the two month downturn. By comparison, the recovery from the Great Recession took the region more than twice as long.
