Grace and peace to you:

It has been said that anxiety arises whenever a person has a difficult relationship with certainty. A person could, for example, want to know precisely how God’s future plans are going to play out. That person might demand detailed information about the blessings and benefits that s/he can expect to gain.

Moses was such a person. Sunday’s scripture lesson depicts him anxiously asking God for absolute assurance: “See, you have said to me, ‘Bring up this people’; but you have not let me know wh0m you will send with me.” We crave complete confidence that everything is going to be completely okay. Maybe the most we can hope for is continuous improvement in our outlook. I’ll say more when I see you.

Certainly,
