“Then Moses, the servant of God, died there in the land of Moab, at God's command.
God buried Moses in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor,
but no one knows his burial place to this day.” – Deuteronomy 34:5-6

Loved ones:

During the summer (23-August), we studied the very beginning of the epic saga of Moses. We considered the contributions of the Israelite midwives who feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded – they let boys like baby Moses live. In subsequent weeks, we’ve watched him grow up and gain renown as the people of God crossed the Red Sea; and suffered snake bites; and stayed the uncertain course to freedom under his leadership.

This Sunday, the featured scripture (Deuteronomy 34:1-:12) depicts the death of Moses. According to the sacred record: “Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died; his sight was unimpaired, and his strength had not abated.” That single sentence summarizes the legacy that he leaves us to emulate. I’ll say more when I see you. The sermon is entitled “Vision and Vigor”.

Shalom,
