News Highlights

  • Eggplant Festival: Come and visit our booth at the Loomis Eggplant Festival. We will be helping to sign up new members while enjoying the day with our wonderful patrons and neighbors. Craft activities for all ages will be provided. Please note that the actual library will be closed this day.

  • Friends of the Loomis Library Book Sale Oct. 20-23. This one is going to be huge! Our container is filled to the brim and the Friends of the Library are determined to make this sale our best ever. More details below.

  • It's official–The Town of Loomis is the proud owner of the Loomis Library and Community Learning Center building and grounds! The paperwork has been signed and we can move forward with long-term planning for the library. We are looking forward to serving our community with the peace of mind that we have a permanent home. The best is yet to come!
Autumn has arrived at last, and now is a great time to FALL in love all over again with your library! We are constantly adding new items to the collection, so if you haven't been in to see us recently—now would be the perfect time to find something new to LEAF through.

Pete the Cat and the Five Little Pumpkins
Halloween Story Book Walk!
Come in costume and visit us for our Halloween Story Book Walk on October 30th, 11 am - 3 pm. This is a self guided outdoor activity for the entire family. Children will be able to read and interact with the story Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins by moving through several stations each with a pages of the story. A featured craft and treats will also be provided at the end of the walk.
Calling all vendorsThe Friends of the Loomis Library will host the 45th
Days of Yesteryear Christmas Faire on Saturday, Dec 4th, and booths are filling up fast. The Christmas Faire is a holiday tradition for many families. Please contact Beth Enright to reserve a booth for this special one-day community celebration.

At the Loomis Library, our staff is feeling animated about book-to-film adaptations! This month, we’re featuring anime (Japanese animated films) that have been adapted from novels. Many of these films were produced by Studio Ghibli and famed director Hayao Miyazaki.

Preschool Storytime Fridays 10:30 am
Join us for Preschool Storytime every Friday at 10:30 am. We will meet outdoors under the oaksweather and air quality permitting. The fall weather means damp grass so please bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy stories, singing, movement, finger plays, and more. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Browse the library afterwards and bring home a take-and-make craft kit to extend the fun at home!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Challenge!
Enjoy reading 1,000 books with your little ones! Log reading, earn badges, and unlock prizes along the way. Reading and storytelling with your child promotes brain development and imagination, teaches your child about language and emotions, and strengthens your relationship. Anytime is a good time for a book or story! Try to share at least one book or story each day.

Here’s how it works:


  • Read to your child and log the books that you read. You can read anything you'd like, including books you have at home, from the library, or that you find online. You can borrow eBooks and downloadable audio books from our Hoopla site too!

  • Earn badges for reading and logging the books you read. Prizes will be awarded at every 100 book milestone up to 1,000.

  • Prizes can be picked up in the library or by using curbside delivery by appointment!
