Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

Lieutenant Michael Hoosock, known as 'Hootch' by many, was a husband and loving father of three. Lieutenant Hoosock worked for the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office since 2007 and this past year earned the rank Lieutenant. He spent his life trying to protect and help others. Those who knew Lieutenant Hoosock say how he was a "great guy, great dad and great cop."

  • Lieutenant Hoosock was a decorated officer with seven official commendations in his file. Three months ago, he used CPR and an AED to save a man's life in North Syracuse.

  • He was awarded the medal of valor for stopping a gunman who wounded two people in a Syracuse bus terminal in 2020.

  • On top of his public service in the Sheriff's Office, Lieutenant Hoosock was a firefighter and paramedic.

Officer Michael Jensen was a son, brother, friend to many and an outgoing, young man who made those around him smile. Officer Jensen worked for the Syracuse Police Department since February of 2022. He, too, dedicated his life to helping and protecting others.

  • After only 18-months on the job, he received officer-of-the-month award.

  • Prior to his career in law enforcement, Officer Jensen played hockey at Le Moyne College where he earned his degree and became an accountant.

  • Officer Jensen grew up in Rome, NY. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and was a record setting member of the hockey team.

God bless you, your loved ones and your law enforcement Brothers and Sisters. May you both rest in peace.
