A Message from the County Executive

Dear Friends,

April started off swinging at the County with the Opening Day Pitch at NBT Stadium as our beloved Syracuse Mets kicked off the 2025 season! #LGM

This month, I had the pleasure of joining the Onondaga County Legislature and members of our WEP Team for the White Pine Pump Station Groundbreaking Ceremony in Clay. This celebration marked another major milestone for the Micron Technology Project. Another major announcement made this month was our partnership with the District Attorney's Office to hold delinquent hotel operators accountable for the $1.9 Million they owe the county in room occupancy taxes.

I also had the honor of joining Mayor Walsh and other local leaders in welcoming home our very own NASA Astronaut Jeanette Epps! Together, we honored her achievements and presented her with a proclamation proclaiming April 8th, 2025 to be 'Jeanette Epps Day' throughout the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County.

Below you will find additional updates and announcements made over the last month. As always, it is an honor to serve as your County Executive and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Sincerely,

Ryan

Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

On April 14th, 2024, our community suffered a tremendous loss. Lieutenant Michael Hoosock and Officer Michael Jensen tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. These two men acted bravely as they did every day to ensure the public's safety.

As a way to honor our two fallen heroes, we will be working with the Onondaga County Legislature to name the Onondaga County Department of Emergency Management Complex after Lieutenant Michael Hoosock as well as create the Officer Michael Jensen Wall of Heroes.

Although this gesture does not take away the pain of their loss, it is a way to continue to honor and remember these two heroic men. Our thoughts are with the families, friends, neighbors and fellow law enforcement members of Lieutenant Michael Hoosock and Officer Michael Jensen always. We will never forget.
