This December, we are breaking good news!

PortSide had major successes this year that further position our last-of-her-kind gem, our flagship MARY A. WHALEN, for a future-focused role:
- We acquired a mint-condition vintage engine that can restore the MARY's cannibalized one, bringing her back to life.
- We are partnering with a group launching a new maritime school in this harbor. That will make our MARY a training ship. There will be a for-profit program, and revenue from that will support our non-profit effort to train disadvantaged youth.

We really seek your support since the Department of Cultural Affairs was very late in notifying applicants this year. We learned on 12/11/20 that they will NOT be funding us this year. That’s a loss of $40,000 we expected (and have received before) for a total drop of $55,000 in anticipated City funding due to covid’s impact on the City budget.
