Our Neighbors' News

September was a terrific month filled with new volunteers, new Community Meal sponsors, surprise grants, another Neighborhood Night Out, our first blessing from Toward Independence’s Hydroponic Garden, very busy Saturdays and week days that continue to bring new patrons and new community relationships! We are so very grateful and excited to share these blessings through our newsletter. Let’s begin with our four groups who served Community Meal in September.

Thank you, Xenia Rotary!

Dayton Workforce Partnership surprised us with a $5000 grant. We were so surprised and excited we forgot to take a photo!

"My wife and I take a weekly road trip to a different county seat in Ohio and eat at a local restaurant when we are there. When we visited Greene County One Bistro was our chosen restaurant. It was a late lunch time and the service was quick and friendly. The food was fantastic! It was a great choice. I would just like to add, the whole concept of this establishment deserves a Golden Trophy in addition to the five stars!" John B

THANK YOU, TOWARD INDEPENDENCE

This month we received our first harvest of indoor hydroponic grown lettuce from Toward Independence (TI) which will be used in our salads and on our sandwiches. We have been anticipating this day and are beyond excited about our growing partnership with TI. Not only will it save us on food costs each week, it also gives us another opportunity to enjoy ‘community’ with this beautiful organization. If you have been to the bistro, you have probably, at one time or another, been greeted and seated by the clients of TI.

"One of the best breakfasts I ever had!! What a great concept-generous priced menu with the hope you will pay it forward for the community! Great concept, incredible food, lovely atmosphere! Thank you!"  Linda S

Once again, One Bistro partnered with the City of Xenia to provide box meals to the guests at Neighborhood Night Out. The city brought a great team of volunteers to the café to assemble the box meals. One Bistro is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the City of Xenia in such a way and we love attending the event as well. Neighborhood Night Out is all about community and serving others!

One beautiful Saturday in September, the group of volunteers shown below were serving in the bistro. They are from Kettering Health Greene Memorial. Saturdays are busy days at One Bistro and we always need volunteers. What a blessing to have them sign up and serve with great energy. They brought a lot of joy to the atmosphere and were a bright light in the café that day, too! Thank you, Kettering Health Greene Memorial!
