Volume 2 | December 2020
Our Neighbors' News
December marks the beginning of Advent, that time of year where we focus on and prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus (Emmanuel - God With Us). Jesus came as a light to the world and with Him, He brings the gifts of HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE. Let us live as those who let hope, peace, joy, and love reign in our lives. Let us live as those who have the Christ’s light burning inside us today and everyday.
We are so thankful for your support and involvement in HIS mission:

"To provide a place where our neighbors eat and
come together as one community."

GIVING TUESDAY
Today is Giving Tuesday! At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe. Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on.

You can give to One Bistro through Push Pay or by visiting our website. Thank you!!

"2020 and Me"
Greg Shaffer, One Bistro Executive Chef
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. Each in their own way. I have experienced more blessings than I can possibly count. One of the biggest has been the love and support of our Christian family, from churches, to family members, businesses, acquaintances, brothers and sisters in Christ to random strangers. God is good! I have had a fair share of challenges as well. The blessings far outweigh the challenges hands down. I know that God is in control and one thing that has been tested, is me believing that through it all. He will never leave us or forsake us! Thank you Jesus!

Shayne Shaffer, One Bistro Front House Coordinator
This year has been a long roller coaster of a ride. I have had more time to spend with my family and I am forever grateful for that time. However, this has been a season of testing for me. I can honestly say that I am stronger in my faith for the trials and tribulations that this year has given me. I know God is in control and that His promises will be fulfilled. (I am still working on being patient in the waiting.) God has shown me such grace, mercy and love this year. I have been humbled by the outpouring of prayers and support we have received during both Greg and Lee's recoveries. I cannot imagine how much more difficult this all would have been without all of those. Truly, I can only say that I am thankful. That actually sums up my feelings about this year. I am THANKFUL for the little and the big things and for all of the people who have touched my life and poured into me this year. May God bless each of you as we look forward to 2021.
Mary Kettenring, One Bistro Administrative Associate
This year, 2020, has been a year of savoring each and every blessing! The slower pace afforded precious time with loved ones and helped to remind me what is truly essential in my life. I have appreciated every hug, every meal out, every roll of toilet paper more than ever before. Uncertainty and instability has only brought into clearer focus our great God, who holds each of us in the palm of His hand and has never stopped working out His plan in our lives, for His glory and our good. Psalm 91
Denise Davis, One Bistro Board President
In the Bible, Psalm 46 reminds us that God is indeed our refuge and strength and will not fail to rescue those who love him. I especially love verse 10, “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” During 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, some may be wondering why they can’t see or hear God. It’s no wonder with social media and TV constantly competing for our time and attention. Throw in a heaping portion of politics peppered with social, racial and economic divide, and you have a real pot of chaos and uncertainty for much of our world. Praise God, there is hope because our God is loving and gentle! Are you being still enough to hear His voice? Jesus reminds us in John 16:33 that we will have many trials and sorrows in this life, but we can still have peace because He has overcome the world! Paul encourages us in Philippians 4:6 & 7 with these words, “Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” Like everyone else, I, too, have had my challenges in 2020 but I have placed my focus on being still, listening, praying, gratitude, and serving others. These things determine my level of hope, peace and confidence in the midst of storms. If you want the kind of hope, peace & confidence I have through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I would be honored to show you the way. You can reach me at info@onebistro.org. Just put JESUS in the subject line.
