Ellie and Ella, two 8th graders who were recently accepted into the National Junior Honor Society, completed a service project that far surpassed their wildest expectations! These two emerging leaders came up with the idea to create custom-made Santa letters, and partnered with two local preschools to raise money for their non-profit of choice, One Bistro.
Working with the preschoolers was such a fun experience! "Their exciting look on life teaches me a lot of new things and about who I want to be in the future," Ella said. Not only was the interaction with the kids very meaningful to both girls, they were excited to raise money for an organization that feeds people and creates connection and community.
Ellie's older sister Reagan raised money last year through her NJHS service project and sponsored two Community Meals at One Bistro. Their entire family served and Ellie was so inspired by the experience that she wanted to raise money for a Community Meal herself. "It was a very powerful experience for me," Ellie said. "When I served, I enjoyed watching people be happy and enjoy each other's company. We decided to fund One Bistro for our project to help people in need and be able to watch the community come together."
Ellie and Ella were so successful in their project, that they raised enough money to sponsor THREE Community Meals! Way to go girls!!
