Volume 4 | 2022 Year End Special Edition

Our Neighbors' News

Tonight, many folks from every tongue, tribe and nation will celebrate the birthday of God’s greatest gift to the world – His son, Jesus! Jesus, whose very name means Savior, God with Us, Deliverer. We’ll sing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to the Newborn King” yet, Jesus did not have a royal birth fit for a King and ruler. He had a very humble birth and his life was focused on serving rather than ruling; loving rather than empire building. Matthew 5:5 tells us, “God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.” He came to show us that the greatest power is not found on the outside but rather on the inside of an individual. Luke 17:20-21 tells us, “…For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Although Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, he came as an obedient and humble servant to love us and save us from our sins. He gave up every right of royalty to lay down his life for us, submitting to death on the cross, as a sacrifice for our sin debt that we could never pay ourselves. That is an amazing gift to world! Tonight, we sing, “O, Holy Night…when Christ was born…” knowing that Jesus continues to smile upon us from the crude mangers of our souls every moment we feel His love and we give that love away to others.

One Bistro’s Christmas wish for each of you is that you accept God’s gift of salvation, asking Jesus into your heart and then share that very special gift with others. We’ll look forward to loving and serving you in the New Year. Merry Christmas!

A Very Special Christmas at One Bistro

Our Christmas Community Meal & Birthday Party for Jesus, sponsored and served by our Board of Directors was so much fun and delicious. Chef Greg, Shayne and Cedric made a very special dinner and provided birthday cake too.

Again, our community Paid-It-Forward in a BIG way and overwhelmed us with their love and support!

A very special friend and generous donor of One Bistro provided 120 Christmas stockings for every boy, girl, teenager, woman and man! The stockings were filled with love and prayers for our guests and stuffed full of special surprises and goodies. We saw the excitement of children and grown ups as they accepted their stocking. For some, this is the only gift they would receive. We are so grateful.

Two wonderful friends of One Bistro distributed some extra “jingle bells” in the form of $50 gift cards to Aldi and Kroger. This was an incredible blessing for some of our neediest families and individuals. Lots of tears were shed by the receivers and the givers.

The Greene County Library donated NEW books for our young readers and oh, what joy it did bring! To see the children excited about receiving a new book certainly warmed our hearts! Thank you, Karl Colon and the Greene County Library for your kindness.

The Boy Scouts from Trebein Elementary School made some awesome placemats for our dinner guests. This is the second year they provided these for us and our guests LOVE them! So much creativity in their messages.

Students from Warner Middle School made us some fabulous decorations for our party! They really helped make our place look festive with the Christmas trees and snowflakes. Some of our guests enjoyed taking them home. They also provided laminated placemats for our café patrons. Thank you for making things a little merrier and brighter!

We had an angelic group of carolers from Church of the Messiah bless us with some Christmas carols during our dinner. Our guests enjoyed singing along to Hark the Herald Angels Sing and other Christmas favorites.

A very special couple donated two entire carloads of new toys and clothes (and wrapping paper) to One Bistro. So, we set them about the café Thursday evening and invited our neighbors to come and shop for their children and grandchildren at no cost to them. Parents and grandparents were elated and grateful for the opportunity to gift their loved ones with toys, clothes and candy! A Christmas blessing indeed!

As you can see, it takes an entire community to make a community café like One Bistro thrive! We cannot do this without our incredible donors, supporters, patrons, grants, volunteers and special friends. May the blessings you have bestowed upon One Bistro be returned to each of you tenfold!
