Job Posting - The Early Childhood Center of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School is in need of an individual to provide after school care for children ages 3 and 4. The hours of employment are: 2:30 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. The position is Monday through Friday with school holiday's and workshops off. The position will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd and will end on May 30th. Compensation is an hourly basis. Please contact Doug Duval, Administrator for further information. 847.438.7709 or duval@stmatts.net
HELPING HANDS MINISTRY of St. Matthew Lutheran Church & School is intended to provide critical emergency financial support. Please contact one of the Pastors if such support is needed. Contributions to this ministry are also welcome. 
MILITARY OUTREACH USA, Please consider helping the Board of Evangelism & Parish Services fill the needs for Veterans Exiting Homelessness. This will run thru November 11.

Sunday, August 11, 2019, is the St. Matthew Lutheran Church & School annual Pig & Corn Roast will be held.

All members of the congregation are invited to participate and we encourage everyone from the congregation to be present for this wonderful outreach event!

However, this event is not just for us at St. Matthew, it is for the community at large and there is a need for many VOLUNTEERS in order for this event to be successful.

The Theme this year at St. Matthew is Sharing in the Mission of Christ: Learning, Connecting, with an emphasis on SERVING .

So...in what way will you be SERVING this year at the Annual Pig & Corn Roast? Sign Up Sheets for the various areas and times willing workers are needed may be found on the Church Office Counter.

WILLING WORKERS

LECTORS - Would you like to read the Old Testament & Epistle Readings in a worship service? Contact the Church Office to sign up for this important worship ministry!

TECHIES - We could still use some extra hands for "tech" at our worship services.
We need people to set up the Mevo Camera and iPad to livestream the worship services.
We need people to help set up the contemporary worship screen presentations on Sunday mornings.

BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE STUDY - Sundays at 9:20 a.m. in the north end of Krueger Hall. 

   THE ADULT DISCIPLESHIP CLASS
will be offered for eleven (11) weeks beginning Sunday mornings during the Christian Education Hour (9:20-10:20am)  September 8 to November 17 in the Upper Level Conference Room. This is an informational class for those desiring to study the teachings of the Lutheran Church. The study is designed for those seeking membership in our congregation, and is strongly encouraged as a review for all current members.

SUNDAY SCHOOL   
The 2019-2020 Sunday School class will begin on Sunday, September 8

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY
Classes will resume this fall beginning September 8th and will meet thereafter on every 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Sunday of each month from 9:20am-10:20am.

THE YOUTH CONFIRMATION MINISTRY will kick off new classes in August 2019, 6:30p.m.-7:45p.m.  Pre-Confirmation Classes are held on Sunday's at 9:20am.
The Youth Confirmation Ministry is designed for all students from grade 6 through grade 8. The Youth Confirmation Ministry is currently on a three-year schedule, and all three years will begin on Sunday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m.

LCC Both August classes have been cancelled. Classes will resume Monday, September 9, 2019.

TUESDAY EVENING LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY
will resume on September 10 at 7:00 in Luther Hall.  
 
THURSDAY MORNING LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY - will resume with a new top on September 5 at 8:30am in Luther Hall.

Men’s Saturday Bible Study
will resume on September 7 at 9:00 a.m. with a prayer breakfast and overview of the Book of Proverbs, chapters 1-21.

SADDLEBROOK BIBLE STUDY 
resumes on Thursday September 5 at 10:00am.

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY -
 Class will resume in September.

Time to go fishing! Bring your favorite pole, lure and tackle box and join the guys for a morning of fishing at Bresen Lake - 25260 N. Gilmer Road Mundelein, IL 60060.
NOTE: this event will be Saturday, August 3.
We'll get started at 7:00 a.m. and you can fish as long as you want.

On the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord, May 30, 2019, St. Matthew was privileged to dedicate the new Rodgers Infinity 361 Organ to the glory of God and for the edification of all who worship and praise the Lord God in our Sanctuary. Other future planned dedicatory events include:

ST. MATTHEW MINISTRY NEWS
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH OF LUTHERANS (COOL) -  A food pantry for some of the neediest families in Lake County. Please bring a can of food/box of cereal with you when you worship and place them in Luther Hall. Thanks for helping those in need. August food item: Pasta and Rice.
SHARING THE JOY Are you or somebody you know in need of meals? Sharing the Joy ministry of St. Matthew would like to help. Please contact the church office to set up meal deliveries.
UPCOMING TRIP
2020 EUROPEAN TRIP & OBERAMMERGAU is an 11 Day Classic Classic European Tour (September 20-30, 2020) which will include Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Nurnberg, Rothenburg, Heidleberg, a Rhine River Cruise, the Neuschwanstein Castle and culminating in Oberammergau for the 2020 production of the Passion Play.
