Awareness Event in PA Rocks!
|
|
For many of us, October and especially the 9th, is a special time of awareness where we come together collectively to raise one voice in advocating for our children, for proper diagnosis, and for better treatment. For all of us, every day is a day of celebration or of fighting in this journey of PANDAS. Somehow, we are all connected by this common experience and we find comradery, understanding, and compassion with each other.
Today we would like to highlight and extend our gratitude to Renee Lumio and her team, Nikki Harper and Lauren Kradoska who hosted their 3rd annual fundraiser October 30, 2016 in New Hope, PA. Renee has shown us what a determined group of like-minded individuals can do when they come together. By reaching out to their connections and asking for small donations from their community they were able to put together an amazing event! When they knew it wouldn’t happen by the 9th, that didn’t stop them. They moved forward and secured a date of the 30th, reminding us that an awareness event can take place any time! Their local volunteer fire company provided the space for their event and these are just some of the things included: food trucks, bouncy houses, balloon characters, face painting, pumpkin painting, many raffle items, corn hole tournament, and vendor shopping with a percentage of sales being donated back to the cause. They raised a whooping $18,000 including a corporate match, all will be used for awareness and research. What an inspirational showing of ideas!
We look forward to hearing more from Renee with guidelines that we can all use to plan our nationwide local events in 2017. No effort is too small as we continue to raise awareness, sometimes one doctor or parent at a time!

Quarry Golf Club Tournament for PANDAS-PANS March 18th San Antonio, TX - Dustin & Tristin Burell Family Event
|
A few months ago, Tristin Burell called PANDAS Network to thank us for our website and community awareness that helped accelerate their child's healing! And we are grateful they told us! Their young son became very sick with PANDAS and tonsillitis complications in March 2016. It took 3 months but they got him back after 20+ doctor visits. They have since learned.....3 months is a fast recovery compared to the heartbreaking lack of diagnosis many families experience for years.
They have used their relationship with this PGA Level Quarry Golf Club to hold a day long tourney with dinner and music. Our expert, Dr. Elizabeth Latimer, will attend and explain the syndrome to over two dozen expected physicians.
Proceeds will be shared with PandasNetwork and children who are seeking treatment locally and need financial support.
