- 1- DOGS THAT NEED YOUR HELP
|
|
Life is never dull in prison - there is lots of activity and lots of noise. Right now we have 12 dogs in prison and one in foster care. We are trying to do our part in helping with shelter overcrowding. There are several variables that determine how many dogs we can comfortably accommodate in prison, but the maximum number is about 10. Each dog that is either adopted or in a foster home, opens up space for another dog to be saved. We believe that there is a perfect home for every dog. In this mid-month newsletter we are highlighting 3 dogs that really need to be in a home environment instead of prison, either as a permanent adoption or as a foster home until adopted. Check them out.

We highlighted Braidee before, but as our longest prison resident, she bears repeating.
Well hello!! I just celebrated my one year anniversary in prison and I think I've been here long enough! It's been great, but now I'm ready for my forever family or maybe just a nice home to stay in until I get adopted! PLEASE BUST ME OUT AND RESCUE ME! I just need YOU and a place to run and play. I would be an amazing companion for someone who wants to go running, hiking, or swimming, and I know I would LOVE dog sports! BUT, don't get me wrong, I love a good snuggle and want to chill out with you too. I've had tons of training and know cute tricks. I'm already housetrained and crate trained. What more could you want? If you're looking for love in a fun filled furry body, COME AND GET ME! I WANT A FOREVER HOME, PLEASE RESCUE ME!
Braidee is a strong 61 lb. young female boxer mix who would probably do best with an experienced dog owner or active family.
If you can find a place in your heart and your home for Braidee, please fill out our Adoption Application.

My name is Earl, and I just want a REAL home! I’ve been in a shelter for SOOO long! I was lost on the streets in Schulenburg fending for myself when someone picked me up last November and took me to their shelter. They said I was a 2 year old Blue Lacey mix, weighing in at 54 pounds. They loved and took care of me there, but no one came along to give me a home. Then in May, the nice ladies from Paws in Prison came and got me! They call me their Gentle Giant. I like playing with most of the dogs, especially the little ones. Playing with all of the toys and romping in the water are my favorite things to do here. All of the ladies here adore me! I’m fully graduated from the obedience program with straight A’s and I even know some cool tricks! I may be a bit nervous around folks I don’t know at first, but once I get to know you, I’m a friendly and confident guy. I’ve worked really hard to be ready for my forever home! I love everyone here, but it’s starting to get to me, ya know? Prison can be chaotic at times, and I need to be someplace where it’s calm and peaceful. Won’t you consider letting me stay with you while I wait for my forever home? Or better yet, maybe YOU want to adopt me?
PLEASE COME AND HELP A GUY OUT!
The Lockhart Ladies love watching Earl pounce on his toys!

I'm Dixie and I am a 24 pound female CUTIE!! I have been getting to go on outings away from the prison to the park and I even saw a squirrel!! Getting out sure was fun!! I'd like to do things like that with you! I am full of energy and I like to play with other dogs and toys. If you like to take walks, I will walk happily next to you. I love being in Mother Nature and I'd love to be there with you! I also would love to cuddle with you because I'm a snuggle bug! I'm all finished with basic training and now I'm learning cute tricks to show you! Super smart, very sweet and a tiny bit shy describes me perfectly. After I get to know you, you'll love my gentle nature and devotion to you. I can't wait to meet you! PLEASE ADOPT ME! I'm ready to go to a foster home or a forever home NOW!
If you can find a place in your heart and your home for Dixie, please fill out our Adoption Application.

5 - Our Online Fundraiser
|
|
The life blood of every nonprofit organization comes from individual donors. In 2020 and 2021, due to Covid, many in-person events were canceled. Because most of us were sheltering at home, we decided the perfect way to hold a fundraiser was online and why not make it exciting and fun at the same time! Thanks to the online platform host, GoGoPhotoContest, we announce The Cutest Critter Photo Contest!
We learned a lot those first 2 years, so now in our third year we have added a new element in the way we will be awarding prizes to the winners. We can't wait to see all your Cutest Critters enter the contest!
|
|
THE TOP 4 PLACES EACH WIN
AN AMAZON GIFT CARD
|
|
Amazon Gift Card prizes will be awarded to the First through Fourth place winners based on the total number of votes received at the end of the contest. The contest runs from September 1 - 30. At the end of the contest on September 30, 2022, the first place winner will receive a gift card valued at 20% of the total number of votes received. The Second, Third, and Fourth place winners will each receive an Amazon Gift Card in the amount of 15% of the total number of votes received. Each contestant can vie for larger and larger gift cards during the contest period by getting more and more votes for their Cutest Critter! The more votes received at the end of the contest, the larger the gift card value the top four winners receive!*
On the special contest page s croll down to the leaderboard at the bottom to see the ongoing count of who is ahead. The ongoing count keeps the competition to win going! You can enter your photos NOW but the official contest takes place from 12am CST September 1 through 11:59pm on September 30. The sooner you enter your photo, the longer you have to promote your Cutest Critter.
Keep in mind this is a fundraiser for Friends of Paws in Prison, the amazing nonprofit that saves the lives of shelter dogs and incarcerated women.
*Each vote requires a $1 donation. The Maximum Amazon Gift Card Value awarded is $500.
