Celebrating CAP's Diversity
This Holiday Season
Thanksgiving, perhaps more than any other holiday, is a uniquely American celebration that transcends culture, religion and ethnicity. In all things, we are more alike than we are different. And in all things, we should seek to find the common ground we share and appreciate the differences that make us stronger. This Thanksgiving, as you gather with family and friends, know that you are a valued member of our Civil Air Patrol family and celebrate how we, as a diverse team, come together to serve, educate and grow. As I reflect and give thanks for the year drawing to a close, I am thankful for the important role you play in remaining always vigilant in the service of others.   Happy Thanksgiving!

National Wreaths Across America Day On the Horizon
Since 2006, Civil Air Patrol has enjoyed an important partnership with Wreaths Across America. The Wreaths Across America campaign is a very moving way to honor those w ho have served, and it's also a very effective unit-level fundraising activity. This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, Dec. 14. For more information on how your unit can participate, click on CAP's online resource  and  publicity guidance .

Exercise Risk Management: Have a Safe Holiday Season
Holidays are a time to come together with friends and family and celebrate traditions. Historically, they’re also a time for increased mishaps. This year, exercise a bit of Risk Management ahead of time. If you’re planning a road trip, check your vehicle’s tires, fluids and lights to make sure everything is in working order. Check the weather for your route. Snow chains or an emergency kit might be a good idea just in case you get stranded. If you plan on cooking for a house full of guests, now is a great time to check your smoke detectors. Also consider the need for a properly rated fire extinguisher.
