Contribute to Montgomery History

In honor of America’s 250th Anniversary, residents have been contributing to a special mosaic mural celebrating our shared history, creativity and vision for the future. Each tile will create the larger Unity Tree Mural, symbolizing the diversity and unity of our community.

Don’t miss your chance to contribute by joining this weekend’s painting session! Sign up to paint a tile in the Library Program Room alongside members of the community. There will be two additional sessions throughout September. Interested participants can register here. See what your neighbors have created here!

Honor the Lives Lost

Join the community in honoring the lives lost and the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice 25 years ago. The township will host a morning ceremony beginning at 8:46 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial at the upper parking lot of Montgomery Veterans Park, followed by the evening ceremony hosted by Montgomery Vol. Fire Co. 2.

The evening ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the company’s fire station at 529 County Rt. 518, Skillman, NJ. Montgomery High School Marching Band will perform and refreshments will be served.

Deer Management Program

The Deer Management Program is essential for public health, public safety and protection of the natural environment. The program began in 2001 after a Township-wide infrared survey revealed the deer population to be approximately 88 deer per square mile.

The 2026-2027 hunting season will begin next week with fall bow hunting and end in February after winter bow. The six-day firearm season will run for a week in December. More information can be found on the township website. Questions can be sent to the Township Clerk at (908) 359-8211, ext. 2211.

For over 30 years, hundreds of residents have volunteered for Somerset County’s Fall Leaf Clean Up Project. The community outreach event is open to adult and youth volunteers and provides older adults and disabled homeowners with free, basic yard work. Find more information and register to volunteer here

As students head back to school, there will be more pedestrians on the road during rush hour. Motorists are reminded to slow down in school zones, keep an eye out for pedestrians and completely stop for school buses.
