Freshly harvested garlic is available now. Take advantage of
the
short local season (through October) to purchase this flavorful,
healthy cooking staple.
Revelations about the growing methods of inexpensive imported garlic
grown in China is cause for concern.
Buying organic
certified garlic is no guarantee that it is not tainted, as regulations are not strict. Spraying with bleach and other chemicals to whiten the bulbs, stop sprouting and kill insects makes imported garlic risky and eliminates the natural health benefits garlic is known for.
