Highlights of Our Life and Work
February 16, 2020

The Reverend Cari Copeman-Haynes from Crossroads United Church in Delta will be leading worship this Sunday.

Cari has been sharing in spiritual leadership with Crossroads United Church since before its birth by amalgamation in 2009. One of the many adventures she has embarked on with the Crossroads community was the decision to become an Affirming Ministry (which happened in 2016). Cari is interested to observe, participate in, and try to lead the dynamics of identity-formation in the congregation, as we deepen into God's hospitality and compassion together. She is honoured to exchange pulpits with Janice in order to open up the Affirming story of Crossroads with the Peninsula congregation.

Rev. Janice is delighted to exchange pulpits with Cari and speak about the journey of Reconciliation between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

Scripture:
Isaiah 53: 3-8  Acts 8: 26-40

10 am Worship at Cafe Church
God promised Abram & Sarai that they would become a Great Family, even though they didn't have any children yet, and they were getting old! Come and wonder with Susan about how God's promise was true, and how we are all part of the Great Family.

Rev. Bruce will be on Sabbatical leave from May 14 to Oct. 1, 2020. Rev. Janice will be available during this time. There is a Sabbatical Planning Team to provide support along with making sure the church activities continue seamlessly during this period.
The team is made up of Rev. Janice; Elizabeth Winkler and Susan Zwick (Third Space); Kathy Matusiak (Congregational Care); Maria Booth or alternate (M &P); Victoria Jones and Mary Fran Bateman (Worship).

The committee is looking to provide leadership both internally, from our congregation as well as externally from the wider church.
We are looking forward to using this opportunity to explore some different styles of worship and meeting some new worship leaders.
We hope this time away will provide Bruce the opportunity for learning through reflection, revitalization and recreation.
We wish him every blessing during his time of renewal.
We continue to need underwear, gloves and weatherproof coats. Folks are finding the soggy nights even more difficult than the nights below zero.

Donations can go to Sunnyside, Third Space (check for open hours) or call C heryl for pick up. 604-538-7366. Your help is sincerely appreciated.

Next Session: March 2

Instead of memoir writing, it's memoir making!  In the first session, you will identify your core need, then design a memory-worthy experience on paper to meet that need.  During the month, you will experience your design, reflect, then write about it, becoming intentional in making the memories you want to remember.  At the following meeting, you may share your writing/experience.  Each month will feature different "design" challenges.  For more info call Marilyn Hahn, 604-996-2960
