Branwen is a goddess, so dear to my heart. I live in the State of Texas in North America, decidedly in the diaspora of my northwest European ancestors. Branwen called to me, this beautiful goddess who left her homeland of Wales for Ireland. Her heart ached so far from home. In grief, in loneliness, abused, and homesick, she called to the starlings and asked one to fly to her homeland to send for her brother. Across land and sea and sky, the starling flew to carry her words to her brother, Bran the Blessed.

Flower Face: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Blodeuwedd
Forward and Introduction
by Jhenah Telyndru
Ninth Wave Press, 2016
ISBN: 9780978904593
Simultaneously Flower Bride and Owl of Wisdom, Unfaithful Wife and Lady of Sovereignty, this complex figure holds many lessons for those who seek to know her, and through her, learn to shed the fragile petals of illusion wrought by the expectations of others, in order to birth the authentic Self that is able to see Truth with owl-wise eyes. Whether she is simply a legendary figure from Medieval Welsh lore, or is in truth a Sovereignty Goddess once worshiped in Celtic Britain, there is no doubt that Blodeuwedd is celebrated and honored in modern times as a Divinity in her own right.
