The Port of Oakland is launching a new outreach program called, "Meet the Port" to provide the public with greater access to the Port, share information, and receive feedback from the community. The Port announced its

The East Oakland office is located in the Cypress Mandela Training Center at 977 66th Ave. Office hours are held during the second Tuesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m.
The West Oakland office is located at the West Oakland Jobs Resource Center, 1801 Adeline St. Office hours are the third Tuesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. Drop-ins are welcome.
The programs officially begins Dec.15.

Jack London Square lights up for the holidays!

Jack London Square switched on 5,000 holiday lights on the 55-foot high Shasta fir tree at the Oakland waterfront. Even the littlest ones could see the reindeer up close. The Port hosted a booth for kids and their families at the celebration giving out free hot chocolate and candy canes.

Lazear Charter Academy students learn about the Oakland Seaport

The Port hosted 50 sixth grade students from Lazear Charter Academy located in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood. The students learned all about the Oakland Seaport and Port careers from staff in the executive office, crane engineering department, and harbor facilities. The students saw the Port dive team in action at the waterfront and were able to talk directly with a diver via radio when he was underwater. The event helped introduce the children to some of the Port's unique jobs.

Peralta Community College District Chancellor and
staff learn about Port career paths

The Port of Oakland hosted a briefing for the Peralta Community College District Chancellor Jowel C. LaGuerre and staff providing an overview of the Port's three revenue divisions: aviation, commercial real estate, and maritime. The Port shared information about career paths and the types of skills needed to prepare young people to be successful in port industries.

The Good Neighbor Breakfast was a great exchange of information. Port Executive Director Chris Lytle shared updates on the Port of Oakland and answered questions from the community. Port staff provided the latest project information on Oakland International Airport, the Oakland Seaport, Jack London Square, Environmental Programs & Planning and community benefits updates. As well as the latest on the Oakland Seaport including topics such as port trucks and the former Oakland Army Base redevelopment.

Oakland celebrated the 20th annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival
on Nov. 8, 2015. The Port hosted a booth for kids and families at the Festival, where they could learn more about the Port. More than 200 kids put their artistic touch to sugar skulls at the cultural event celebrating Mexican ancestry.

Movember is a campaign to raise awareness about Men's health issues and show support for the fight against prostate cancer. Men shave their faces at the start of November, then grow a mustache for the month. Movember has raised millions of dollars in support of Men's health programs around the world. The Port of MOakland team of 13 employees raised over $1,400 this year.

It was the Spirit of Aloha at Oakland International Airport as more than a dozen Polynesian performers and hula dancers entertained passengers in Terminal 1 Monday morning on Oct.30, 2015. Airlines and Port Aviation Division staff donned Hawaiian shirts and fresh flower leis to add to the festive atmosphere kicking off OAK's fall and holiday Hawaii travel season.
