Vera Institute looking for proposals for new Rural Jails Research and Policy Network project

The Vera Institute of Justice, with support from Arnold Ventures, is pleased to solicit proposals from applicants at U.S.-based universities to participate in a new Rural Jails Research and Policy Network as a university “Hub” site. Vera will award up to $200,000 to support each university Hub site’s work as part of this project. Proposals will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. EDT on August 9, 2019, and must be submitted via Submittable at  https://ruraljails.submittable.com/submit . New Precision Agricultural Connectivity Task Force looking for members

Chairman Pai of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has just announced the formation of the Precision Agriculture Connectivity Task Force. This Task Force is focused on promoting broadband Internet access on agricultural land. Farmers, ranchers, broadband providers, and State and local government representatives will advise the FCC on policy changes to connect agricultural land.

Nominations for membership to this Task Force should be submitted to the FCC on or before July 17, 2019.

The percentage of people working in creative occupations and enterprises in northeast Vermont is nearly a third higher than the national average. Performance, culinary arts, and design are just some of the sectors that contribute to the local economy, according to a new report.
