CASA Student Spotlight

CASA Student Spotlight is a curated section meant to centralize connections and foster a sense of community among peers who share similar interests, passions, and aspirations. How does it work? CASA Student Spotlight utilizes a randomized selection process. With over 100 CASA students, you never know who will be featured next! Join us in celebrating the richness of our student community.

Mariah was born and raised in Chico, CA. She is currently enrolled at Butte College as a College Connection student, expressing that she values the excellent resources that BC offers. She is exploring various options and paths to discover a career that she is passionate about. She is working towards obtaining her AA degree. She plans to pursue a career that allows her to contribute to the community and create a safe environment for others. Looking ahead, she plans to transfer to Chico State to get her bachelor’s degree.

Outside of academics, she enjoys spending time outdoors and cooking. She appreciates her involvement with CASA, where she finds the staff members to be very friendly and interactive. CASA has supported her academic journey by providing valuable resources and assistance from the staff members. She would advise students to take care of themselves and to put themselves first. Her goals include completing her AA degree and successfully transferring to a four-year university. Once she sets her sights on a goal, she is dedicated and focused. However, she still loves to have fun!

Meet Rivaldo, originally from Los Angeles, CA, currently living in Chico, CA, who is studying electrical engineering. He chose Butte College because he connected with an amazing counselor, Julio Delgado, who helped create pathways for him. Math has come easy to Rivaldo and has been around construction to find an interest in his major. His plan is to transfer to Chico State to continue his engineering studies due to the great program and the strong connection with Butte.

In his free time, Rivaldo enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, and cliff jumping in the summer. He appreciates the snacks, welcoming environment, and stress-relieving atmosphere at CASA. CASA has provided him with a support system, a sense of community, and opportunities to connect with people from different programs. His advice for students is to stay determined and never give up, as life can be tough, but it will not get any easier. Rivaldo loves the beautiful campus at Butte College and his goals include becoming an electrical engineer, earning his bachelor's degree, and living independently. He wants people to know that he has a fun-filled personality and always brings a party vibe.
