Pastor's Update

Hi Parkway –

Yesterday, Pastor Kat did a great job of carrying forward our current sermon series: (Re)Action. Kat preached about one of the building blocks of faith in everyday life is choosing to serve others. You can click HERE to watch the sermon if you missed it. If you're not currently plugged into serving at Parkway, check one of the serving boxes on your next Sunday morning Connect Card, or reach out to me directly.

We also put forward two new ways of serving outside of Parkway – I wanted to make sure that as many Parkway People as possible saw those, as well as give:

- a reminder for Women's Ministry

info on a new 'Families with Kids' Grow Group forming

and correct a date I got wrong.

Two Parkway people have brought forward two new ways of serving outside of Parkway:

Prison Ministry - Freedom Walk (Information about serving as a volunteer in Prison Ministry)

Thursday, October 10th, 2PM

One hour tour of the Carol Vance Prison to witness the work of the Holy Spirit in a Christian prison.

Contact: Shari Nutter

Child Advocates of Fort Bend County Sip and Stroll

October 29th, 5:30 - 7PM

Come hear the stories of the children served by Child Advocates of Fort Bend County and how you can be involved.

RSVP to Shawn Quinn.

Note that the Sip and Stroll for Child Advocates of Fort Bend will be on October 29th and NOT the September date I mentioned yesterday. Sorry about the mistake!

Reminder – Parkway Women's Ministry Paint Night is THIS Saturday, September 21st at 6pmPlease click HERE to register. Registration deadline is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17th!

Finally, yesterday I mentioned that there will be a hang-out and conversation aimed at forming a new 'Families with Kids' Grow Group, but we would send out details when finalized. That will happen this Friday, September 20th at 6pm at the house of Jason and Carolyn McDonald. Bring an appetizer to share. If you'd like to join in, RSVP to me at justin@parkwayumc.org and I'll send you the address.

Mark your calendars for our annual Parkway Trunk or Treat coming up on Sunday, October 27th from 3pm - 4pm.

We need volunteers to make this a success! There are a variety of ways that you can get involved and help out.

  • Decorate your trunk with your favorite Bible Story or other fun theme! (please refrain from anything scary, witches, etc.)
  • Be a welcome host by welcoming guests and have them fill out an information card.
  • Candy or monetary donations are also greatly appreciated. Candy donations can be dropped off in one of the bins located in the lobby of either building.

Click HERE to volunteer or reach out to Becky Betz with questions.

I hope you have a great start to your week! See you soon!

Justin
