A Monthly Expression of Thanks
The Church at the Heart of the City with the City at Heart!
My Dear Central Family,

Central’s vision includes “meeting the needs of our Unique Surrounding Community; that is to say “Taking the Church into The Community!” Joseph Hudson and Pamela Perkins Carn lead our active involvement, sharing information on community, city and state community. Second Saturday (SS) For Community Involvement is the brainchild of Brother Hudson who states, “Our ministry attempts to share information with our communities so as to enable them into action just as Christ does to lead our personal actions and responsibilities giving them value before God!”

Sister Carn shares that SS, connected to Central’s mission outreach mobilization initiative, creates another opportunity to engage our congregation in full expressions of our faith,  understanding and participating in social issues. She explains that SS members are involved in civic duties that take the church beyond its’ walls in keeping with our purpose:

Exalting the Lord, Equipping the Saints and Embracing the Community.

Second Saturday ministry members considering the climatic affairs of 2020 affecting the church and community, determined to champion the support of black businesses, particularly during the pandemic, and the urgency to prevail at the ballot box. Meeting these mission goals demanded research and physical legwork. Ministry members provided the community with information on black businesses and entrepreneurs, allowing the community to make informed decisions on who to boycott or support. The community also received information to make informed decisions when voting. SS committed to getting election information out to the community including: 2020 voting rights as they were challenged: varied elections, and dates; educating voters on truth vs. fiction regarding the issues. SS leaders provided the community with ongoing changes and updates in Georgia elections laws, procedures, timelines, deadlines, locations, and transportation.

Thank you, Central! Because of your spiritual and financial support, Second Saturday for Community Involvement works to keep the community informed. Your giving makes provision of information, services and help— especially those in under served areas—possible. I am so grateful. Again, I thank you!

Take good care, keep the faith, be safe and always,

 Be Well !
