STEM Sports® provides turnkey K-8 supplemental curriculum that uses sports as the real-life application to drive STEM-based, hands-on learning in classrooms, after-school programs and camps.
Please read this special message from the President & CEO of STEM Sports®:

We hope that during these difficult and trying times all of you are staying safe and healthy.

There aren’t many new words, thoughts or sentiments that can be shared that would bring inspiration during a time when so much is unknown. At STEM Sports, through our unique curricula, we make a difference by providing skills for young learners such as leadership, problem solving, critical thinking and especially collaboration. There’s a quote we cite from time to time at our headquarters that has such a profound meaning, currently. Helen Keller penned, "alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." It’s amazing to think about most of our current situations and how ironic this quote is. Given what’s happening right now, the word together has an entirely new meaning. Today, together most likely means family to you. Others may not be so lucky.

The world of sports has been brought to its knees. Sports serves so many people in a variety of different ways. For some, participating means competing, being physically active as well as being part of a team. For others, it’s a form of entertainment and a way to escape from reality and spend time with those we care about. None of us has sports right now. We feel very strongly that when the grip of the pandemic loosens, you’ll know when. How? When sports returns.

Until then, we hope to bring everyone together through our sports curricula - together to learn and play. The education community has banded together to address the needs of those at home and away from the classroom. We ask that you come together as well and enjoy a few simple ways to get lost in science, technology, engineering, math, sports and physical activity. Perhaps, this odd time can be pivotal and from it will rise an Olympic Gold Medalist, an NBA General Manager, or even a ‘mathlete’.

Fun for the whole family and a great activity to participate in together several times a day. Everyone picks a card and everyone participates in the activity on the card. Select a “7” of Hearts and everyone has to do seven push-ups. The ace of spades? 11 squats! This is a fun and a great way to get moving and the heart pumping.
Upload photos or videos of your Playing Card Fitness activities. We're easily found on social media channels by using STEMSportsUSA.
Enjoy!
It's comforting to know that we have several people we can count on in times like these. And who better to count on then the Human Calculator himself, Mr. Scott Flansburg! L isted in the  Guinness Book of World Records   as the 'fastest human calculator' for over 20 years, Scott is dedicated to helping both students and adults from around the world overcome their fears related to numbers and arithmetic. He believes everyone has the ability to do mental math and he is on a mission to help everyone feel comfortable and confident with numbers in everyday life!

Scott has launched a brand new event, one that you could actually do and prepare for at home. The Counting Bee is an annual, fast-paced, and exciting STEM competition that reveals the fastest human counters in different age categories around the world. Based on a 15-second countdown, mathletes will race to compute as many numeric answers in each level. For each level, the mathlete will be given a random starting number and be told to count by a fixed number. The starting numbers and counting numbers will increase in difficulty in each level. A unique scoring system will determine the top mathletes by taking a cumulative total of all the levels successfully completed. State-by-state and country-by-country competitions will determine overall Counting Bee World Champions by age groups.
