Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 36:5-7

Remember the tune Jesus loves the little children? This year, this crazy year, this song has run over and over again in my head. What a wonderful reminder that we are God's children regardless of our differences. Let's sing it together:
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world
We have lots of differences don't we? We have different backgrounds, skin color, hair color, routines, interests and even political views. We love to love those we like and those who like us. But our Lord calls us to love as He has loved. We are called to love those who are different from us. We are even called to love those who we don't like, those who persecute us, insult us and even harm us. How is this even possible? It's not ... apart from God, but with God, ALL things are possible! We can love the unlovable! Remarkably, that is EXACTLY what our Lord did with us, the unlovable. While we were lost and condemned sinners, our Lord embarked on a rescue mission - He came to save you from our unlovable selves. He came to save in a little baby. The angel told Joseph exactly what to name this baby, and his name carries with it a purpose:
“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
Jesus came to save everyone! Whoever believes in His name will be called a child of God! Does skin color matter? No way. Does our hair color matter? No. Do our political views matter? Not that I can find in the Bible. No, God's children are "precious in His sight." He loves them, cares for them, and came to save them. His name is "Jesus, because He will save his people from their sins."
AMEN!
See you Sunday as we Rediscover Love in our Differences.
In Christ's Unfailing Love,
Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[a] will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
