Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I have blinked and a whole Rotary year is now nearing the end—but there is still much work to be done. That said, I do not mean to make it sound like our year ends in 50 or so days, but rather that it is important to visualize continuity as we IMAGINE Rotary creating hope in the world.
This year, we have accomplished many amazing acts of goodwill in our community. For starters, we have created nearly one million meals in collaboration with multiple non-profit organizations, which include Second Harvest Food Bank, Heart, Hands and Hope, One Heart for Women & Children, and many more.
We have also logged thousands of hours of volunteering throughout the Central Florida community—helping where help was needed most. After all, our motto of Service Above Self is what defines who we are and what we do as Rotarians.
Last, we have made the biggest accomplishment of them all—that is, to have a full year of face-to-face meetings at every Rotary Club in District 6980. This is one of the most important achievements after putting behind the pandemic woes that kept us from hugging and shaking hands with other Rotarians.
Now, we are beginning the transition into a new Rotary year with a new District Governor. My friend Don Harris is preparing as DGE to continue the hard work we all put in this year, setting sail into the year 2023-2024 with Gordon McInally as Rotary President.
On Saturday, June 17th we will be having the 2022-2023 District Conference at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs—and I want to celebrate our accomplishments with every one of you. To reserve your place at the conference, you can purchase individual tickets for $125, or purchase an entire table for $1,200. As of today, we have sold several tables—including VIP tables offered at a premium.
And don’t forget, our District Conference’s Keynote Speaker is Barry Rassin, Past Rotary International President.
