The NYC Department of Education released the NYC High School handbook earlier today. The 2020 SHSAT exam is scheduled for NYC 8th graders for November 7 and 8, 2020.

Please note there are (minor) changes to the structure of the upcoming SHSAT. Specifically, the grammar section will have a larger variety of questions. The reading section will have fewer questions. The math section appears unchanged. Please see below:

The 2020 SHSAT exam is scheduled for NYC 8th graders for November 7 and 8, 2020. This is about two weeks later than usual.

Students have to register for the SHSAT or audition by October 21, 2020. Students should apply to high schools by December 4, 2020.
|

Kweller Prep offers online, limited in-person, weekday and weekend summer classes.
|

Tuition includes all books, materials, and supplies.
|
|
Kweller Prep is offering classes online via zoom in group settings of 8-10 students. We will also run a limited in-person program, following the social distancing guidelines set by the CDC.

For families considering our summertime online program, please note we are developing it to 110% exceed your expectations. Materials will be delivered door-to-door and tutors will email parents updates on a weekly basis.
For families considering joining our in-person program, we are limiting enrollment to 25% of our capacity. This will allow us the space necessary to maintain social distancing guidelines. We will also provide students with a variety of protective gear. Should small businesses not be allowed to open in-person, we will offer families the opportunity to convert classes to zoom online or issue a refund. Once open, we will use extreme caution for those who choose to participate in our classes in person, utilizing every resource available to us and going above and beyond

Kweller Prep is well-designed to help first generation and immigrant families navigate convoluted admissions to great high schools. Nearly 100% of our tutors are multilingual and navigated this tough process under our mentorship as well. It's common for a former student to be offered employment as a tutor in our program.

Students who join Kweller Prep for SHSAT prep also perform well on screened high school entrance exams. It is common for students to place into schools such as Bard High School Early College in addition to being offered a seat at a specialized high school.

We are now actively registering students in grades 5-11 to join Kweller's summer course. We want to request that those who completed our program refer the next generation of qualified students to us as we fill our limited seats. We are now asking former students to scout dedicated and committed peers who can become participants in our course long-term. Because Kweller Prep tends to be more rigorous than other prep schools, this program is not a ideal for everyone. We would like the help of those who were members of our 2019/2020 test prep community to serve as ambassadors for future students entering the Kweller Prep community.
