Spring is in the air and, as you may have seen firsthand, there is a flurry of activity in Education Valley, the aptly-named area from Fair Avenue to Fisher Catholic High School. As such, it seems like a great time to present a construction update.
As you have probably seen by now, our new, state-of-the-art ball fields are open and being enjoyed by both our baseball and softball athletes, as well as their competitors. Opening dedication ceremonies for both have taken place and we had the opportunity to thank those players and coaches who came before us while giving them the chance to step out onto the fields themselves.
Meanwhile, the pleasant weather has allowed us to make excellent progress on the new high school. We are currently still on track to open the school in August of 2026. At approximately 365,000 square feet, the new school will allow us to educate close to 2,000 students - several hundred more than we can currently host. As the community grows, this will be essential. Further, the ability to keep nearly all our students on one campus, without having them leave for other educational opportunities, will be advantageous for all.
Our current high school was built in 1963 and the needs of students were different then. The new school will have the technological capabilities required by us, as well as more restrooms, ADA-compliant facilities and yes, air-conditioning.
A few snags were endured over the winter months, namely an issue with soil stabilization and some decreased availability of materials. However, our bi-weekly construction site meetings continued and things are now moving nicely. I'm sure you're curious to see the progress so I invite you to look at the site photos below.
Meanwhile, I'm pleased to report that our central office administration officially moved to the new Coonpath Road location over spring break. We are settling in nicely.
I trust your spring break was great and I hope you will continue to check in with us as we start to round out the academic year.
Happy spring!
