Summer SYA Sports Registration is OPEN!

May 1, May 15 and June 18, 8:00 am - 10:00 am at ECL, Field 3

For players from 1st to 8th grade, grouped by age. Clinics will focus on learning/developing the following:

Stick skills, different types of hits, passing, receiving, 1v1 defending skills, age-appropriate principles of team and off ball movement, and decision making.
Players will scrimmage for the second part of each session.
Personal life skills will be modeled by the coaches and nurtured with the players - self confidence, proper communication, respect, work ethic, self-control, enthusiasm, teamwork, and leadership.

SYA wants to thank all members for their efforts in relation to being safe. Your Board of Directors appreciates everyone's patience and understanding of adjustments that have been needed in relation to COVID and ensuring everyone's safety.

With the new guidelines from all federal and local agencies, including the Fairfax County NCS department that issues our permits, we no longer have significant Return to Play guideline requirements. Our spring registration numbers have grown back to pre-COVID levels and that is a great sign that people are ready to get back to the gyms and fields to play ball.

Our thousands of volunteers and players are eager and ready to coach and play! We do want to remind everyone that we still need to be safe. Please review our updated policies/protocols and please make sure that:

The Froghair Golf Classic

The FROGHAIR is back and better than ever! Sponsored this year by Virginia Valor FC, and teaming with SYA and CYA , to host the coolest golf event in Fairfax County... bar none! The Froghair isn't your ordinary golf tournament... every hole is a new challenge that affords all foursome members the opportunity to contribute. SYA is looking for additional volunteers!

SYA is looking for volunteers to help with photography and videography of our sports in action.

Help is welcome for a single game, day, or season. Whatever works for your schedule is appreciated.

WHY ARE REGISTRATIONS SO EARLY?

This is a great question and one that has been prominent in our seasonal surveys that we send out at the end of each season (WAIT!! you didn't respond to our survey? Please look for it at the end of every season). These articles are based on your input and we want to hear from you!!

Ok, so why are registrations so early and why is it important? Generally speaking, it is mostly dependent on getting permits for use from the County.

While we just opened registrations for summer programs, in less than a month (May 1 to be exact), we will be opening registrations for our fall sports. While this may seem ridiculous, our deadline to the County to request fields/gyms for the fall is June 1. A short time for our sports volunteers determine what the season will look like, how many fields/gyms we will need, etc.

SYA truly and seriously appreciates those of you that register early. We even offer discounts in some sports to help encourage that effort. We also are trying to catch everyone before summer vacations start up!
