Join the FAFP in Kansas City!

The FAFP is recruiting active practice members to serve as delegates to the 2026 AAFP National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) April 22-25 in Kansas City. Join FAFP member Dr. Victoria Otano who was elected to serve as co-convener of the LGBTQ+ constituency this year. Delegates will represent the FAFP in one of five different constituencies as described on the NCCL page (Woman, BIPOC, New Physician, International Medical Graduate, and/or LGBTQ+). The FAFP will cover coach airfare, three nights lodging, registration fee, and up to $75 per day for meals (not provided during the conference or by FAFP via group activity).  These slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis so please do not hesitate to contact Jay Millson (jmillson@fafp.org) as soon as possible if you are interested in attending!

Vaccine Bill Moves in Tallahassee

On Monday January 26, the Senate Health Policy Committee narrowly passed SB 1756 "Medical Freedom" (6-4 vote) which would allow a conscious objection for state mandated childhood vaccines, require physicians to explain the risks/benefits of the vaccines and alternatives, allow pharmacists to prescribe Ivermectin over the counter without liability, and more. Public opposition to the bill was nearly unanimous, including FAFP President Dr. Danielle Carter testifying about the dangers of losing herd immunity and other serious implications for overall public health (Video, 50:00-2:34:00, with Dr. Carter testimony @ 1:37:50). Keep up to date on the latest developments by reading the FAFP's weekly Capitol Update.  Rest assured, the FAFP will continue to work tirelessly to defeat this legislation during the 2026 legislative session.
