Description:

This workshop will include strategies for family play therapy sessions to help unify the family, help children feel valued, and parents provide much-needed attention and connection. Strategies may be used during therapy sessions in the office or in-home during family meetings. Principles from Adlerdian Play Therapy and Parenting Model will be used. 


Objectives:

  • Describe the Crucial C's as it relates to the Adlerian Play Therapy and Parenting Model 
  • Demonstrate three play therapy strategies for family Play Therapy sessions including rationale
  • Demonstrate three Play Therapy strategies the family may incorporate in family meetings in the home


Presenter: Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S™ 

Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S™ is the Founder and CEO of Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars. and Founder and Executive Director of Barstow Acres Children’s Center, a non-profit practice providing children's mental health services. She is a 24-year military veteran having served 5 years in the Army Nurse Corps and 19 years with the US Public Health Service as a Commissioned Corps Officer. Ms. Hinds is trained in Gestalt Play Therapy with Violet Oaklander (retired) and Child-Centered. She also authored chapters in Play Therapy in the African-American Village and Cultural Issues in Play Therapy, edited by Eliana Gil, PhD, RPT-S™ and Athena Drewes, PsyD, RPT-S™. Ms. Hinds received the MD/DC APT 2019 Outstanding Service Award.

Cancellation Policy:


Written notification of cancellation must be received in our office at least 10 business days prior to a training for a refund. A $25.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. There will be no refund for cancellation notification less than 10 business days.


CBPS reserves the right to cancel a training due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund.

The Maryland and Washington, DC Boards of Psychology Examiners Recognizes national Association of School Psychologist approval status with CBPS and grants CE hours to clinical psychologists in Maryland and Washington, DC.

Art Therapists (LCPAT, ATR-BC) may obtain CE Hours based on our NBCC approval status.
