Resolutions for 2018 NJ District Convention - Due by Jan 31
NJ District Outreach

The Outreach Council asks that you prayerfully consider submitting Resolutions to be considered at the NJ District Convention in June 2018.

The resolutions should be submitted to the Resolutions Committee by January 31 That will give the committee time to consider all submissions.

We need resolutions that will not only bring about discussion, but will also encourage all NJ Congregations to find ways to be more missional, and to actively take on the challenge of engaging their respective communities with the Gospel of Christ.

Keynote Speaker Announced for NJ District Spring Education Conference - April 13

Ellen Booth Church
Join internationally known early childhood educator, Ellen Booth Church, at our NJ District Spring Education Conference on April 13, 2018.

She will be a lively Keynote Speaker and Breakout Session leader, speaking on " Mind and Hearts Together: Inseparable Tools for Learning", "Don't Forget Your Funny Bone" and "Terrific Transitions: Using Transitions to Teach and Manage Behavior".  She is dedicated to creating connection between social emotional learning and academic skills. There are so many ways we can encourage children to use their minds and hearts together daily. Come explore great ideas you can take right back to your classroom.

Ellen was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY to a family of musicians and educators. She spent a good amount of her childhood making music and dancing in the woods. Her family's creative playful approach to living inspired her to study early childhood education and to later become a Preschool and Kindergarten teacher at the Campus School of the State University of New York at New Paltz.

Her unusual approach of combining cognitive learning experiences with creative play caught the attention of several publishers and she became an educational consultant and author for Scholastic Publishing. At the same time, Ellen began teaching Early Childhood courses at the college and later became an Assoc. Professor of Early Childhood at SUNY Farmingdale, NY.

Ellen had the pleasure of working with Helen Benham and Jackie Carter in developing Early Childhood Today (formerly Pre-K Today) magazine for Scholastic. She wrote the Circle Time and Ages and Stages (5 year olds) columns for the magazine. If you go to scholastic.com and type in her name in the search bar...all of her years of articles are there for you to use.

Ellen is currently writing and consulting for a variety of publishers and schools around the world.   She is the Barnes & Noble Kids' Expert Circle and Environments, Inc.

Ellen has fallen in love with India and has been spending the last two years assisting with creating preschool programs for Kinderpillar. She goes every year to work with the teachers and families.

Ellen has a new book coming out in May 2014 for Gryphon House publishing.  Getting to the Heart of Learning  explores the concept that ALL learning is Social Emotional Learning. But how do we do that? The book if filled with activities and ideas you can use tomorrow in your classroom.

Also at the Spring Education Conference:

Rick Porter ( Lutheran Church Extension Fund) will present how to use the new "Mission-in-site "tool through LCEF to better help gather information to help our church and schools in their changing environments and demographics.  How we can target our communities and their needs.

Stay tuned for more information and registration, beginning late January 2018!

  • Vacant and calling congregations in the New Jersey District.
  • Rev. Andrew and Caitlin Dinger, on the birth of their son, Daniel Everett Dinger on December 29.

Lord God, You have appointed me as a Bishop and Pastor in Your Church, but you see how unsuited I am to meet so great and difficult a task. If I had lacked Your help, I would have ruined everything long ago. Therefore, I call upon You: I wish to devote my mouth and my heart to you; I shall teach the people. I myself will learn and ponder diligently upon You Word. Use me as Your instrument -- but do not forsake me, for if ever I should be on my own, I would easily wreck it all.
