#SheCanLead STEM Mentorship Workshop *
The #SheCanLead Stem Mentorship Workshop on March 26 celebrates women in STEM by bringing together a career panel and breakout sessions to students interested in exploring STEM fields with a chance to be paired with a STEM mentor!

The #SheCanLead STEM Mentorship Workshop is your chance to connect with professionals to learn more about STEM/STEAM fields while starting to foster a student-to-professional mentorship!
College Access Panel During Children's Week *
The Children's Trust is hosting an online College Access Panel to talk about college and technical college, scholarships, payment options, applications, programs for preparation, and access for special populations like homeless, fostered and undocumented students. Take advantage of your chance to speak directly with experts and get help making a plan for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders.

The panel takes place April 6, 4:30-6 p.m.
UM Team Coach Offering Monthly Parenting Programs
UM Team COACH is now offering various Communities of Practice for Parenting Program providers! Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting programs and are currently being offered virtually.

Creating a Resource Network - In this CoP, we will share information, gather and develop resources, and identify how to share those resources with our community. Topics will vary. This CoP will be held on the first Tuesday of each month from 10-11 a.m. Click here to sign up!

Parent Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will be identifying key stressors and barriers your families may currently be facing, as well as identifying and practicing strategies to solve these barriers. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Virtual recruitment will be an ongoing topic. Funds Available to Help Care for Kids with Special Disabilities at Home
Are you the parent or caregiver of a child with significant disabilities? Through a generous allocation from The Children’s Trust, The Advocacy Network on Disabilities has funds to pay for respite, in-home supports, and out-of-school programs.

Eligibility: These funds are for children and youth who have significant and multiple support needs such as activities of daily living (e.g. using the bathroom, eating, moving, or communicating); requiring medication administration or other assistance because of medical conditions; and/or exhibiting behavior that is aggressive or self-injurious. Other factors may include whether there is more than one child with a disability in the home, the age of the caregiver, and whether other supports are available. Each family will have the opportunity to discuss, with our Inclusion Coordinator, their individual needs.

Afterschool Meals Program Food Sponsor: Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
To select one entity as an approved Department of Health (DOH) Afterschool Meals Program (AMP) Food Sponsor in Miami-Dade County to provide daily snacks (during after-school hours), lunches (when programs operate during full days), suppers (for sites serving participants in need) and beverages for participating children in The Children’s Trust funded youth development (YD) programs.

Early Childhood Community Research Demonstration Project Request for Proposals 
This solicitation will fund several projects focused on implementing and evaluating evidence-based or promising programs that support early childhood development within high-need communities in Miami-Dade County. Projects require an active partnership between a community-based organization and qualified research partner. Funds may be used for both high-quality program implementation and program evaluation and/or research that will help establish program effectiveness.

Reading Reimagined Peer Learning at Project RISE
Are you wondering how to infuse diversity into your literacy? Join Project RISE, Reading Explorers and fellow YAS (K-5) providers for a one-hour, immersive and self-reflective exploration to diversify your on-site and virtual libraries. Let's talk and gain practical techniques that can positively impact your Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals and outcomes. To further enrich this session, please come ready to share a favorite book title that contributes to your DEI mission.

*New* Applying Homework Assistance Strategies Course Available in Trust Academy
Would the children in your program rather do literally anything else instead of their homework? Project RISE has just launched a new course that will help you take your program's homework time from "no way" to "child's play!"

Youth Development direct service staff engage in a series of activities designed to encourage the practice of skills learned in the Introduction of Homework Assistance course. Participants will practice how to apply evidence-based strategies to solve common issues, such as children struggling with homework assignments, low motivation to complete homework, and helping staff managing homework time effectively.
Youth Enrichment Peer Learning Session
Some Youth Enrichment (YEN) Providers have expressed an interest in meeting on a monthly basis to share experiences and support one another. Project RISE will facilitate an information session in which YEN Providers can discuss the focus topics of the peer leaning group such as best practices, challenges they have overcome, and issues for which they are still finding solutions. The goal of this session is to decide as a group if an ongoing Peer Learning forum is needed and what the format will be. The session will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, March 24 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.. Step Up AT Parent Workshop - Assistive Technology for Early Literacy *
This virtual early literacy workshop is for parents who have a child between the ages of 3-5 years old who have a disability or delay, receive related services, or have been referred to receive therapeutic services or evaluations.

The workshop will be facilitated in English & Spanish, and each family will receive a free home literacy toolkit and up to $40 for completing surveys before and after the program.

Grants Available for Cultural Institutions Affected by the Pandemic
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) will receive $135 million in supplemental funding to assist humanities organizations and other cultural institutions affected by the coronavirus pandemic as part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP). NEH will distribute ARP relief funding through a competitive process to cultural organizations such as museums, libraries, historic sites, archives, and educational institutions, which continue to feel the dire effects of the pandemic. Budget shortfalls at all levels have compelled cultural institutions across the country to lay off and furlough staff, cancel programs, cut departments, close facilities, and tap institutional reserves.

In order to apply for a grant from NEH, eligible organizations must pre-register with SAM.gov and Grants.gov. As this registration process can take several weeks, organizations are strongly encouraged to start the registration process immediately to ensure they can apply. Fill Out United Way of Miami-Dade's Pandemic Impact Survey
As we approach the 12-month mark of this prolonged crisis, we are assisting in sharing United Way of Miami-Dade’s Pandemic Impact Survey, open until March 26, 2021, to measure how Miami-Dade households have been affected by the pandemic and assess the financial and household burdens it has caused on our community’s families. The survey aims to collect responses from a wide range of households, income levels, as well as small business owners. Responses will provide critical insight about local challenges and identify ways to plan, coordinate and adapt services to support those in need, as well as assist in planning for future investments. Completing this survey should take about 10 minutes and is available in English, Spanish and soon Haitian Creole – select your language using the dropdown box at the top of the page. A full report will be published summer 2021.

Please take the survey now and share it with your family, friends and colleagues so they can also complete it.
School-Age Education Racial Equity Programming Request For Proposals
United Way of Miami-Dade is seeking to address access and opportunity barriers for Black, Indigenous, and Youth of Color (BIYOC) through racial equity programming. The grant recipient will utilize a minimum of two approaches that address racial inequities such as leadership development, community organizing, civic engagement and advocacy. Outcomes may include increased civic engagement, self-empowerment, building strong relationships, increased school engagement, conflict resolution, critical thinking and decision-making skills and activities that promote the reduction of racial inequities. Funding will be for a two-year period and will commence July 1, 2021. Services must begin by August 2021 and continue through June 30, 2023.

Funding will be $25,000 each year for a total award of $50,000. Completed applications should also be sent to velezm@unitedwaymiami.org.
