FEBRUARY 2023: AGENCY HIGHLIGHTS

YOUNG HEARTS MATTER

Dating violence is more common than you may think, especially among teens and young adults: 1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they're in a relationship with before they become adults. And nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors.

Each February, young adults and their loved ones nationwide raise awareness about teen dating violence through Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This annual, month-long effort focuses on advocacy and education to stop dating abuse before it starts.

GO ORANGE DAY: COMMUNITY PARTNERS

SHOUT OUT to our community partners and friends that participated in our GO ORANGE DAY and being advocates for healthy teen relationships! Individuals around the nation joined together to wear orange on Tuesday, February 7! Wear Orange Day aims to raise awareness of teen dating abuse and send the message that abuse will not be tolerated.

WILLIS HIGH SCHOOL POSTER CAMPAIGN

Willis High School students worked with our Outreach Team to create Teen Dating Violence Posters / ADs in honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month! The group hung the posters in their hallways to promote and raise awareness with their peers!

APRIL: UPCOMING EVENTS

Sexual Assault Awareness Month is an annual designation observed in April. The mission of this month is to raise awareness about sexual violence around the world, and to educate communities on how to prevent it. This month, use your voice and any platform you have to spread the word to end sexual assault in the U.S. and worldwide. Another way to participate this month is to wear the color teal to honor survivors and keep the conversation going. Sexual assault is a horrific problem, but the good news is that prevention is possible, and it’s happening more and more. By ending the stigma and continuing support and awareness programs, we can slowly but surely lower the number of sexual assaults that occur every year.
