"One of the 10 best classical concerts of 2018"

With the goal to inspire new audiences, last year Conspirare embarked on a 17-city national tour of the healing oratorio Considering Matthew Shepard. Coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of the brutal beating of the young Wyoming man, the tour included Conspirare's debut at the famed Ravinia Festival, Craig's thoughtful post-concert conversation with Matthew's father, and engaging dialogue with high school and college students.

"Because of this concert, my students understand better that our current society desperately needs artists that put all their diverse backgrounds aside to come together and spread beauty and a strong message against hate and fear."

Last year, Conspirare also continued to offer live streams of select concerts.

"Craig has such a special vision for how choral music should fit into our lives," says Beth, a high school choral director who has traveled from Minneapolis to Austin to attend the Christmas concert. "My students have become big Conspirare fans, too!"

Conspirare is grateful for devoted listeners, but we know everyone can't travel 1,200 miles to hear us! So this year Beth and her students got to enjoy the December performance without leaving home.

Conspirare's affirming and compelling song was also enjoyed by:

  • National television audiences who watched Considering Matthew Shepard, a television special co-produced by KLRU, PBS-Austin and Conspirare.
  • Youth choir lovers through the Conspirare Youth Choirs' performances.
  • Students and community members through free master classes and school visits, discounted performances, and free "Big Sing" events.
  • Online streaming listeners of Conspirare's recordings (an average of 6,621 streams per day--a 54% increase over 2017) through Spotify.

Thanks to you, we did it! For our 25th anniversary, we sought to engage 25 new Conspirare Ambassadors who make our work possible by volunteering in the office or at concerts. You too can enjoy free performances in exchange for your time and talent. Learn more.
