Learn about some of the upcoming legislative topics for the 2023 session. A special thanks to Senator Karla Eslinger for taking time to speak with GOCSD members. Additionally, we are grateful Dr. Jason Dial will be sharing his expertise around key legislative topics. Finally, Sara Riss from MASA will share some legislative communication strategies.

This session will be ideal for educators interested in being informed about upcoming education-focused Missouri legislation. GOKEY Communicators will also be joining this session. This free, virtual event will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. 

All Member Districts are invited to participate in our GOKey Communicators program.

GOCSD is hoping to expand the GOKEY Communicators' initiative across many districts in the SWMO region. Imagine the possibilities when a large group of community members, parents, retired teachers and business leaders are equipped to discuss the impact of proposed legislation on their home districts! 

It is recommended for districts to select 3-5 strong public school advocates who would be willing to learn about educational legislation and then communicate directly with legislators. 

The GOKey team has one initial training (Enlighten our Legislators session) and then they connect bi-monthly through Zoom for 30-minute legislative updates. Superintendents often attended these update sessions.

We are also hoping to add in some collective personal visits with legislators in Jefferson City.

Superintendents are asked to identify their GOKEY participants and then direct them to our GOKey Communicators web page to register themselves, and to get all the details in time for the initial training session on November 10th.
