As many of you have heard, we have been busy for the last few months creating blogs from our GSA Preconference: Translating Research on Aging and Work into Practice: Effective Strategies for Communicating with Employers. If you haven't seen the blogs, please check them out on our newly designed website.
The Network was also a co-host for the Current and Emerging Trends in Aging and Work conference, organized by the Center for Research and Education on Aging and Technology Enhancement (CREATE) and the National Institute on Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) that was held in Miami, January, 2018. Proceedings from the conference will be published by Springer Publishing Company in a book by the same title later this year.

Contribute to a special issue

Network members have been actively engaged in work that furthers the cause of making longer lives better lives.
Marcie Pitt-Catsouphes and Kathleen Christensen, Co-Presidents of the Work and Family Researchers Network, will be editing a special issue of the journal, Community, Work & Family.This special issue will focus on different aspects of translational approaches to research as they pertain to the study of work-life and work/family concerns. The co-authors would like one of the articles to provide a thorough review of different models of translational research and the specific implications for the work-family field of study. They also anticipate that at least one article will discuss a work-family study that was conducted in partnership either with an intermediary association (for example, an employer membership group) or with an "end-user" of the research (such as a specific firm). The other articles will present the findings of quantitative and qualitative studies, with more extensive discussion about the possibilities for translation than is typical. Attend a conference in Seoul, South Korea

Thomas Klassen, Professor of Political Science in the School of Public Policy and Administration at York University in Toronto, Canada would like all of you to know that the 4th Annual Symposium on Ageing and Old Age will be held at Kangnam University in the greater Seoul area (South Korea) on November 1-2, 2018. The theme of the symposium is "Aging & Technology: Innovation for Communication and Networking," however abstracts on all topics related to ageing and old age in Asia-Pacific are welcome. In the meantime, I hope all of you are planning to attend the annual meeting of the Gerontological Society that will be in Boston this fall, November 14-18. We have submitted a proposal for a preconference: Research that Matters: Overcoming the Constraints of Later Life Work. If the preconference is accepted, this will be a chance for a grand gathering of Network members from all over the world, and will mean making plans to arrive one day early. Details to follow!
