Spoken Word artists including poets Mahogany L. Browne, La Bruja, and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Slam Team perform with legendary hip hop stars at NJPAC for the 2024 Dodge Poetry Festival. At the Zimmerli Art Museum, Smoke & Mirrors features work about accessibility by artists with disabilities. State of the Arts meets curator Amanda Cachia and artist Finnegan Shannon. And at JCAST, the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour, muralist and painter Lawrence Ciarallo reflects on how the city’s rapid changes impact the artists who call it home.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Month

For 100 years, the plot of the first Asian American film was indecipherable. With missing reels and no intertitles, The Curse of Quon Gwon went largely ignored. Until now. “Family Legend” follows the filmmaker’s descendants and their allies as they solve a mystery 100 years in the making.
