Some Articles to focus on in 2025
First Let me wish you and your family a Very Happy and Satisfying 2025
I have a feeling much will be happening for women in 2025. We shall see.
Transgender People
This is taking up much press here in the US. Not so much in some of your countries. So let me set the record straight;
There are 1.6 million people in the US who Identify as Transgender (not multi millions as some would have us think)
Only 300,000 of those people are between 13-17.
That means all the craziness being generated by this topic is way out of control and not comensurate with the actual #'s.
We have had trans folks attending our workshops since the late 1990's no big deal!
Anyone who identifies as a Woman can attend Women Moving Forward®
Also anybody who identifies as a man who wants to attend WMF® can do so after a conversation with me to clear them for what they will need to be in the workshop.
In 45 years of WMF® workshops only 1 man was able to complete the workshop. All the others ran away after the morning of the Day 2.
When Your Company assigns you a Coach
This is not a complement it means you have something they don't like about you and/or your work. First find out exactly what the issues are BEFORE you start working with them.
Also be forewarned they are not Therapists and there is no requirement they they hold what you tell them in confidence unless you make them sign an NDA. So do not share anything you do not want the company to know.
This does not apply if you hire your own coach. That said they are still not therapists and I would have them sign an NDA.
Texas is now Covering up the Deaths of Women
Yes as of Dec. 1 Texas is now covering up the number of women whose death is directly related to their draconian anti-abortion bill.
My question is if you are so proud of your new laws and believe strongly in them why are you hiding the #'s
Is DEI Dead?
As the actress Blake Lively just proved with her complaint filed in California the issues of DEI are still strongly with us.
It also proves that even if companies think it is over in the US (because of the US Supreme Court ruling) It is not over. She filed against an individual and several companies. Check out The very thorough article in People Magazine.
My point is there are still anti-discrimination laws on the books here and elsewhere and so DEI is not dead it's just waiting for folks like Blake to make it front and center again. It is still illegal to sexually harass someone and it is also illegal to retaliate against them when they make a complaint.
So welcome to the 2025 version of DEI which is individual by individual or class action by class action.
Lastly on this topic here is the real reason companies should continue to embrace DEI; IT MAKES BUSINESS SENSE.
Companies with diverse and inclusive workforces make more $. Pure and simple Diversity makes companies sell more! Women on your Board increases market share by 2+% points. Yup A Diverse Board makes market share jump.
So my question to Company hierarchies is why would you not be Diverse and Inclusive? It's the best action for the company!
Have a great 2025 and make sure you take care of yourself and your family first this year!
Susan
