Reverend Jessie Louis Jackson, our great civil rights and political leader, protégé of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. recently passed after leaving an indelible mark on our nation and history. A great orator of our time, Jessie spoke for the voiceless, the marginalized and the powerless. His words and feelings will echo forever, whenever someone says or feels that “I am somebody!” because he vowed to “keep hope alive.” Thank you for your leadership and example Reverend. Well done… RIP

MNC Mission Preschool Teacher Wilson Zhao brought a traditional Lion Head to share with the children, honoring Lunar New Year. He introduced the Lion Head and explained the meaning behind the celebration, talking about family, traditions, and good fortune for the new year.
Wilson shared this is the Year of the Fire Horse and explained that although each year is represented by a different animal, the dragon dance remains an important and exciting part of many Lunar New Year celebrations.
The children explored the Lion head up close. They eagerly took turns trying it on and created their own festive dances, moving around the classroom with big smiles and lots of energy. This hands-on experience connected with cultural traditions through movement, creativity, and joyful play.

What is MNC Open Arms? Every day families face sudden crises that threaten their safety and stability: a mother escaping violence in the middle of the night, a family displaced by fire, a parent with nowhere safe to take their children. When crisis strikes, waiting weeks for help is not an option. That’s why MNC Inspiring Success launched its newest initiative, Open Arms, a rapid-assistance program that delivers immediate relief — food, clothing, emergency lodging, and critical support — when every hour matters. We call it “the power of right now.”

In February our MNC team participated in 21 recruitment efforts at 13 ongoing partnerships sites, five community events and three neighborhood canvassing efforts to promote MNC early care and other services!
We participated in Valentine Themed-Lovers Lane Community Event in the Mission District and Avanza - Mission Housing Development Corporation’s Valentine Resident Celebration - Two Summer Resource Fairs by Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and San Francisco Rec & Parks + Southeast Community Center (SECC). We attended Guadalupe Elementary for their Lunar Year Celebration hosted by Family Connections Centers partner.

MNC incorporated Lunar Year activities for the children and after participating we received thoughtful words, "On behalf of the Community at Guadalupe Elementary School, I'd like to thank you for your participation and partnership during the Lunar New Year Celebration. Having MNC Inspiring Success share information and services greatly enhanced the experience of this celebration for our students and families. We look forward to continuing this partnership with your organization in the near future."

We successfully kicked off our Nurturing Couples and Parenting Series with nine couples along with about 15 children. Lunchroom availability for childcare is especially strategic, ensuring children are safe and comfortable in their own space while allowing parents to focus on the session. We were also delighted to have MNC Board Member Paul Kleinbaum and CEO Richard Ybarra, rushing from the airport so not to miss the opportunity to greet and encourage the courageous couples.
These sessions help support parents in working together with shared goals, prioritizing their connection, and enhancing their parenting journey through mutual respect and a lasting bond.
