International Drug Awareness Day; WCSO Campaign to raise Fentanyl Awareness
*SPECIAL EDITION*
INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY
Today, August 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day, a day to emphasize that drug overdoses are preventable. Addiction support and resources exist to help stop overdoses from happening.
As Fentanyl drastically continues to impact Washington County and the surrounding Metro area, the Sheriff's Office recently highlighted the dangers in a four-part campaign entitled "One Pill Can Kill."
The Sheriff's Office teamed up with other county partners to educate residents about Fentanyl's effects on our community. Many have been greatly impacted as even a tiny amount of this synthetic opioid in your system can be deadly. Fentanyl is roughly 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine.
Part Four: A local community member's personal testimony of overcoming addiction, a School Resource Officer's experience with Fentanyl in our schools, and community involvement opportunities to help prevent future Fentanyl tragedies.
