A PERSONAL NOTE

We’ve been doing a bit of downsizing, selling and donating stuff, and I’ve been going through old photos, reminiscing, but also waxing philosophical. Life’s a little crazy, isn’t it? We’re born, then stuck here with no instructions, no guidance (except intuition and good parenting). Some of us are lucky enough to find (or be gifted with) some tools such as astrology or channeled messages, but most of us have to learn our lessons the hard way, through experience.

Shakespeare’s Macbeth ponders this in his famous soliloquy:

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,

Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,

To the last syllable of recorded time;

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools

The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,

That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,

And then is heard no more. It is a tale

Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,

Signifying nothing.

But metaphysics says something else. It’s not true that our tale “signifies nothing”. Each life, simple or grand, joyful or sad, is our path to wisdom. God is playing at life. Source is learning. Our personalities blink out upon dying but our souls retain the point of the wisdom lesson. The “poor player” (us) has its moments on stage and then is “heard no more” …except in photos, videos, and especially memories. But we’ve made our mark in the Akasha. The eternal self (also us) goes on to “echo in eternity” (as Maximus say in Gladiator).

Macbeth’s depressive mindset is being replaced by a new one. We’re lucky to live in an era when we are beginning to recognize the greater self and its wisdom game. We’re learning that death is not an ending but a transition, and the essential “me” remains and goes on, now full of hard-won common sense.

I’m Judi now. Who was I before? Who will I be next time? There’ll be a different photo album or device to store the next me, I suppose.

It’s all part of the life review!

ASTRO TIDBITS - SEPTEMBER 2025

The World is undergoing a new, rare, and positive realignment all month (Pluto sextile Neptune, sextile Uranus). Week 1 sees humanity advancing (Jupiter trine NN), but the news can be upsetting (Mercury square Uranus) and excessive force might be provoked (Mars square Jupiter). This pattern can also bring fires, volcanos, and/or discoveries about energy and propulsion. Week 2 shows less fakery and more harmony and spirituality (Lunar Eclipse in Pisces conjunct NN; Mars sextile Venus). Week 3 ends with a new thrust for jobs and higher consciousness but indicates continuing lack of clarity (Solar Eclipse in Virgo in a Grand Air Trine to Uranus and Pluto, but opposite Neptune/Saturn). In Week 4, nature can be angry, or explosions and rage erupt (Mars square Pluto).

The U.S. keeps pushing tariffs to toughen relationships with allies in Week 1 (Mars conjunct U.S. p2 Mars), and sees a positive change of image with less restriction on information (Uranus SR in Gemini trine U.S. MC exact). In Week 2, slow gains from a good application of resources are helped by military strengthening (Saturn sextile U.S. p2 Pluto; Mars trine U.S. Mars). Uncertainty remains, though (Neptune conjunct U.S. IC). A mixture of rage and violence vies with economic success (Mars square U.S. Pluto; Jupiter trine U.S. p2 Sun). Week 4 promises caution, joy, inspiration, and confidence (Mars conjunct U.S. p2 Saturn, trine U.S. Venus/Jupiter; Jupiter sextile U.S. Neptune). We are entering a pioneering new start that will benefit the homeland and alliances (U.S. p2 Moon trine U.S. Sibley ASC).

President Donald Trump is very confident and inventive all month (Mars conjunct his Jupiter, trine his Uranus). He can feel triumphant in Week 2 but also frustrated by legal delays (Mars trine his Sun, square his Saturn). A vacay is warranted on the 14^th (Mars conjunct his p2 Venus). Week 2 is excellent for diplomacy and high energy (Venus conjunct his p2 Mercury/Mars; Mars sextile his Mars) but obstacles with relationships can make him pushy (his p2 Saturn square his p2 ASC; Mars square his Venus). He will be assertive at month’s end (Mars sextile his ASC).

Ilhan Omar faces a big upset on the 6^th (Uranus SR opposite her Uranus exact).

Book Review: “Play of Consciousness", by Swami Muktananda (Harper & Row, 1978)

Looking to read the journey of a realized soul, I came across this autobiography by Swami Muktananda, a guru I’d had personal contact with, and whom I knew to have reached the level of Siddha Guru, i.e., one who has supernatural powers. In the 70s, I had the extreme privilege of attending a retreat in the Catskills of New York (“the Jewish Borscht Belt”) during which this same guru had initiated hundreds of us during meditation ceremonies. “This yoga requires a Siddha Guru who can initiate by Shaktipat [the transmission of power to awaken spiritual energies] and a disciple who is worthy of his grace.” Excited by the expectation of a story of early beginnings to the stage of raising seekers’ kundalini, the guru’s words were only semi-satisfying.

Much is omitted from the account—unlike Swami Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, there are no details about his childhood, family, or sources of support. The writing does not explain how he lived for years without a job or who, in a culture that supports spiritual seekers, provided for him during his lengthy meditations. How old was he when he began his meditative journey? When and how did he meet his guru, Nityananda? How did he segue from a disciple to a master?

Instead, there is chapter after chapter detailing the specifics of his meditative experiences as he physically relocates to various living arrangements in unnamed towns. We hear about the red, blue, and black lights he sees. We learn how many times his eyes rolled up, and how many different lokas (worlds, realms) he visited. We cringe when he explains his sexual struggle with images of naked women until the energy is finally transformed into the Divine Kundalini Goddess. There are a few briefly-told encounters with fellow gurus, and much devotion to his one-and-only master, Nityananda. And finally, the Blue Pearl in his vision turns into the Blue Lord, allowing him to have full realization: “The entire universe is the field of the perceived while the perceiver is the universal Self.” (Many others have reached this same realization through various different paths, including via quantum physics.)

Throughout the book and especially the concluding part, he teaches the philosophy of Siddha Yoga. Many Sanskrit words are used, such as sadhana (the practice of spiritual discipline), chiti (divine conscious energy; creative aspect of God), and jnani (an enlightened being), and an excellent Glossary is provided. Amazing to me is that this philosophy, unlike our culture’s, has specific words for every state and experience on the spiritual path.

One wonderful meditation technique that resonated the most for me involves visualizing a guru or revered figure as filling oneself from within and recognizing each part of the body as containing that energy or presence. I’ve been doing this one a lot!

Not everyone’s cup of tea but fairly enjoyable. Yogananda’s Autobiography is way better, IMHO. – 3.5 stars.

THE CHOICE TO STAY HUMAN

In essence, there is no one here but yourself. You are the thinker, the doer, the receiver, the experiencer, the fool, and the sage. You behave and act as your feelings prompt, and you sometimes listen to your higher voice that attempts to guide you into wiser choices, but you also often then reduce your decisions with the flavor of your emotions. This can cause you trouble and sometimes it can lift you into grace.

The human condition is to take in experience through the physical body and color it through the emotions or it cannot be considered human. If there were not flesh and feelings, there would be only intellect, and perhaps what could be considered robotic. Such a state would completely alter the experience of being human. This is why the current crossroads having to do with such things as AI (artificial intelligence) and replacement of body parts with nonhuman origin is a critical moment. If too much humanity is replaced by machinery or non-organic material, or sensory input that is generated by AI, the human experience can be lost. It is this dilemma that you are now facing and working on.

Choices and decisions will be made over the next decades and even centuries so as to retain the human experience. As we said to begin, it is only you talking to yourself. There is only one Self. What does this one Self want to create as it goes along in its journey? There will be conflicting pulls and different ideas. And the one Self will experiment with this way or that way but what it will come down to in the end is the question, do we retain humanity or do we evolve into something completely different?

We, your higher voice, cannot make this decision for you, for life is in the choosing and the living of the choices. We shall always be here watching, waiting and staying curious.
