Board Updates and Information:

2025-26 District Academic Calendar:

Dr. Erica Mickelson, Director of Teaching and Learning, presented the revised academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year. Key changes include eliminating late start days and replacing them with early release days throughout the year, which will be designated for staff PLT (Professional Learning Time). As a result of this adjustment, the first semester will have 79 days, while the second semester will have 86 days. Dr. Mickelson explained that the additional days in the second semester will better accommodate the numerous activities, events, and testing that typically take place in the Spring. Following the presentation, the Board voted to approve the new calendar. View the academic calendar slides here.

Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Progress Reports:

Mrs. Judy Stanley, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Student Services, presented an overview of the district's new K-5 progress reports, which will be implemented this year. Following concerns about the challenges with the previous reports, lead teachers collaborated over the summer to revise the system. Instead of assigning grades for each standard, the new report will provide an overall grade for each domain. The list of standards was also streamlined and included in the progress report. While some questions remain about the new format, a teacher survey showed that the majority prefer to move forward with the new report. The district is optimistic that the updated progress reports will provide clearer communication of student learning and better support for instructional planning.
