First let me say “thank you” for joining us on our bus trip up to the historic Mecikalski Stovewood Building in Jennings, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 2nd. Saturday looks to be a good day with comfortable weather, light traffic, and wonderful company. With my own roots going back to the earliest days of Hofa Park, I’m hoping that many others can experience the same sense of history and wonder that I felt the first time I visited the site last summer.
I wanted to cover a few items before we leave on Saturday.
Arriving At The Museum Saturday Morning:
Please park behind the museum in the parking lot west of the Legion Hall (see map). Folks can start boarding the bus after 9:30 with the anticipation that we will depart Pulaski at 10AM. If you’ve signed up but haven’t paid yet, the cost is $30 per person, and you may either pay in cash or check made out to the Pulaski Area Historical Society.
What To Expect At The Mecikalski Stovewood Building:
Our trip coincides with “Stovewood Daze” an annual fundraising event put on by the caretakers of the museum. Stovewood Daze is an opportunity for the public to visit the museum, walk the grounds, enjoy Polish cuisine and Polka music, and enjoy the adjacent craft fair along with antique cars and tractors. I would also recommend a walk through the Polish Pioneers’ Cemetery, across the street, about 50 yards from the main building.
What should you bring:
Comfortable clothes, sunglasses, and good walking shoes. The bus has storage space for lawn chairs should you want to sit at the event and listen to music or watch the demos.
Leaving Jennings:
Stovewood Daze lasts until 3PM on Saturday afternoon but we will be departing as a group by 2:30PM. We will tentatively arrive back in Pulaski at 4PM Saturday afternoon.
That covers it. Again, thank you for supporting the Pulaski Area Historical Society and Polish Heritage Society of Northeast Wisconsin and I look forward to traveling with you.
Dziękuję,
