Healing4Heroes Tournament

Raises over $4,500!

Thanks to all who registered, volunteered, donated, and played pickleball for a great cause.

After an initial rain out, the Healing4Heroes tournament held on June 15th was a great success.

The temperatures were in the 90s, but that didn't stop players from having fun. In between games, players enjoyed spray misters and ice pops.

Josh from Healing4Heroes and his service dog were also on hand, allowing players to get a first hand look and the wonderful training H4H provides.

The day concluded with a raffle drawing. Grand Prize winners were Lee Miller, who won a brand new Selkirk paddle, and Beth Austin, who won a brand new ProXR paddle. Each paddle was valued at over $200. Thank you to our PTC Club Members that donated raffle prizes.

One of the recurring comments we hear around the country is that pickleball is more than a game, it is community. Thanks to all our club members, who make this pickleball club a community we love being a part of.

News from your Board

The board is pleased to announce that clinics are backing full swing. In the Spring, we held beginner clinics at the Tyrone courts, and this summer we will hold beginner clinics at the Kedron Fiedlhouse. This is a big win! Our parks and Rec departments have acknowledged the demand for pickleball programs, and the benefit that our club instructors can provide to our community.

We are also pleased to announce that

upper level clinics will be returning this fall!

Watch the club website for registration announcements.

The latest update we have on the SPLOST courts is that the city is considering building 18 courts on Rockaway Road in south PTC.

We encourage club members to continue attending and speaking at city council meetings, and to reach out to parks and rec departments with programs you would like to see offered.

Joola offers full refunds for Gen3 paddles

Though Gen3 paddles are still fine for rec play, USA Pickleball is currently not allowing Gen3 paddles for use in tournaments. This comes after the paddles did not meet USA Pickleball's certification testing standards.

If you purchased a Gen3 paddle directly from Joola between April 16-June 15, 2024, Joola will offer a full refund and will process return requests by July 15, 2024.

Visit joolausa.com for more information.

For customers who purchased directly from retail and e-commerce partners during that same timeframe, please contact them at the original point of purchase.

Ask COURTney

Your advice source for handling courtside dilemmas & gaining pickleball knowledge

Dear COURTney

With the recent memes about super fast paddles not passing tournament standards, body bagging (purposely hitting a player with a pickleball to win the point), and fancy new orthopedic offices popping up everywhere, I'm hearing a lot of chatter on the courts about safety. I even heard that a dude broke his hip after falling and landing solidly on a pickleball that was in his pocket. Is that a real story or an AI generated tiktok post? Which chatter should I take seriously?
